Hi folks, I am offered a job from a company in Pasadena, California. In the current job, I make 65K (location: St. Luis, Missouri) & new offer is 78K. Is it worth moving to CA with this offer? I know weather is great over there but my only concern is about living cost especially housing. My apartment rent in current place is (2 bed and 1.5 bath) $650. But this price could be 4 times higher (with the similar spcae) if I decided moving. Anyone has any suggestions....

Its all upto you buddy. I can tell you that 1bhk near Pasadena would cost you at least around 1400-1500 plus the utilities. That said with the increase in the pay, you need to figure out the tax you are going to pay. Using some simple google search will let u know the amount u will get on hand. But if you want have some life than I would suggest go for Pasadena. Life is good with lots of options for weekend.

According to living cost calculator, $ 65,000 salary in St. Louis, Mo is equivalent to $ 150,657.00 in Pasadena, Ca.

Which industry you work on, if you are IT , specially Developer, and still young and single, California is place to try for fortune, you should always go there. But don't hang into crappy old corporate for 75-80k, work hard and join startup.

Try finding something in Sacramento area if you are planning to move Cali and around similar price range.
