i would suggest not to keep direct eye with them even they say so....Dont argue at any cost... if you do so, then you might need to pay a lot...

well once, when I wore tyo nepali uun ko topi during winter, my boss told me not to wear that cap, but instead wear some tyo MAFIA type ko ....(the one which others usually wear...ali hip hop type ko)

so if surroundings is such, then i recommend you to be wear hip hop type ko dress..(thought u might not prefer,neither do i)...

but to keep self secure, i think this is one of the good ways...

(by the way, this is not only my suggestion...it is the suggesion from my boss who himself is an American)...hope this helps
