This is the protest from biratnagar today. Why are they breaking the vechicles? It is so infuriating. I for one gets worried even there is small scratch in my car. My heart gets broken when the car is scratched. It is made by hard earned money . And this nepali bheda dont' care . Whenever i see some vehicle being burned or broken in Nepal I tend to think myself as the owner. Last time I saw one Neta in singhadurbar himself breaking the windscreen with stone.
Last time they burned the bike of a doctor. Why can't government bring the policy for criminalising protesting and bandas. Whoever who does banda should be made rot in the jail for 6-7 months. Also whichever party does the banda their leader should be jailed. Like If maoist does banda prachande should be jailed for the criminal activity. I see no other way.
Do you guys feel the same as well? Does this type of picture infuriates you ?
Bro, I care when somebody else's vehicle is damaged. Not only vehicle be it anything else. I just feel sad.
In nepal it is becoming as a culture. And worse thing the longer we take to act against these crimes, the more it will be taken as a norm and a part of culture. We should have nipped it on the bud but it still isnt late.
No_Quiero, yes it does infuriate me. That's why I always tell the first step towards making "democracy" work and embark on the path of development is to maintain "Law and Order". Unless people fear law and the consequence of breaking it, nothing will improve. So I agree with you in that there should be some strict punishment for an act as such but I also know it will not happen in Nepal, at least during my life time.
P.S. I notice in the picture that the vehicle is a typical Government vehicle, may be Pajero or something. When will government understand that its not worth getting Pajeros using tax payers' money because sooner or later it will either be burnt/demolished. Might start getting Kia's or some cheap crap. Do some justice to tax payers money..
His anger and destruction should been channelized in constructive place, But they would not and even Maoist can not do it. There is no fun in constructive work. If Mao had not involved in Terror ( feeling of power) , they would not have that many cadets in their side, may be 100-200 knows what is communism and what they want rest are just behind those 200. It it is kind of SATYAGRAHA , a quiet protest ( non destructive) there would not not be much people.
It is really bad to do all these stuffs but the basic thing is these people never feel there is a government in a country where they have any obligation to the government, of course, there is never a government who can look individual Nepali. So these types of senseless, feeling less and inhuman things will continue unless and until he feel that it is our country, it is our government and finally it is my property. So the solution is good governance, feel of responsibility and little bit guilty. Another equally important thing is good justice for every one so that people believe that there is good and bad.
Why do you want to blame the photographer? Blame it on the perpetrator(s).
It's a pure barbaric act of these protesters in destroying properties and infrastructure in order to get their point across. At the end of the day, they will regret that they got caught in the spur of the moment and now they have to forego use of the damaged facility.
