Your family could be the next target. The maoists are moving very fast instilling a sense of fear across the capital with their exploitation and lootings. They have been gradually destroying the sense of security in the capital. Now that they have unfettered access to all establishments and households, they have been seeping into the everyday lives of people through plain exploitations. The law is playing deaf to all Maoist actions. After Maoists have come into the political mainstream, life in the capital is slowly turning into a state of lawlessness. Maoist cadres have been entering households and looting with the help of guns and knives. If anyone resists they get severely beaten up. These maoists looters mostly target well to do houses and enter in groups mostly at night. There have been some looting during the daytime as well but most of these victims do not report to the police for fear of more retaliation. The looters warn them not to report to the police otherwise they would come back to bomb their house. The maoists are trying to control business functions as well as seen in their attempts to close up different industries. There have been cases where they have physically attacked business owners for not doing as told. What kind of democracy is this? Gradually the maoists are seeping into the everyday life of the capital and that too not by popular demand but by forceful exploitation. Today one person's house gets robbed. Tomorrow another person's house gets robbed, but noone speaks out because of fear of retribution. One day it's going to be your house and believe me that day is not far. The victims consider them lucky to have gotten away without any physical injuries or with their lives intact. What about the emotional scar that they carry with them for the rest of their lives? Who is to blame for this? And who is going to take any action against these looters? Things are getting serious in the capital now. Every one who is a middle class or upper class is a target of these atrocities. The widespread tales of looting is mostly kept a secret but chances are you already know someone personally whose house has been robbed or exploited under the threat of lethal arms. I have always been raising a red flag to the coalition of Maoists with the SPA because once the Maoists got into the capital, things were not going to be good. But now it's too late for that, they are already in the capital and their exploitations have begun. What can be done now? What can we do now? We have to think of something before it's too late. We need to mobilize some kind of defense against these armed looters.

Thank you Saroj for bringing this up. Maoists have demanded money from my family too. It is quite scary. Though we are not rich, just plain old middle class family, they have put forward an unreasonable demand, maybe because they know I am abroad. Dunno what to do.

I already know 4 families where maoists entered their house using force and robbed them of their cash and jewellery and other things of value. You all can wait until your house gets robbed or realize now that we have to start doing something about it.

General public will have to device their own strategy to protect themselves... Gov. not gonna to anything, laachaar govt nai ta ho ni. People should come up with the plans now in every tole, town... to retaliate such forceful infringments of the Maoists looting-attacks. And after seeing what happened in Thailand, Nepal Army will not hesistate to go for Nepali Coup !!!! And poeple will support that coup. watch and see.. although I hate such coups... but people will not have choice but to accept. Prachanda and Baburma will be fried. Girija will lose his mind and stroke and lose al the memory... Makune will be hiding in Tinkune. These all so called leaders will be screwed heavily this time..... and they will never be able to come back to politics again.

Mike Bibby, what you are stating is not fact:" Gaule people from remote of nepal has been there and done that and freaking neta's didn't listen to them and now maoist have been into capital and hope they (netas) will listen and do some thing about that." Again , nepalese are impatient animals ..it takes time for democracy to grow.Corruption and slugginish is part and parcel of the freedom. No one has magic wand to change everything in one day.It takes time for the right process the only problem we have is visionless leaders. well now it hasn't been months ..every tribe, every organization has to protest demanding every thing. No consideration for others ..they only think about themselves not as a whole nation.Again we see SPA fighting with each other. And maoist are definately taking advantage of low selfesteem of SPA leaders and radical so called Nagrik samaj. Ok, Poor people are not the one who is looting ..People were poor in Nepal but they were not muderers or chor. That is one thing i was proud of nepalese ..they were loyal and honest people..But ..Maoist have turned these people into money hungry monsters. Those who are in Capital for their rights are not necessarily looting but the so called maoist have been looting these poor people in villages .These looters are not poor people they are maoist.AND its their job ..that is what is taught to them but in nicer way.

While driving out of Atlanta airport after spending a month back home in ktm, I realized OUR parents "Sacrifices". They've stayed back in hell(not the place itself, you guys know what i mean) and offered us the best life there is. KTM is a lawless zone, god only know what other cities in Nepal are like. My parents tensions seemed taller than Dharahara. There was always family jealousy and khit pit, pain of their kids being abroad, and so on. But now Maoist and the looters in ktm. I am always afraid for them. I believe my father is significant person of the soceity. He provides job for hundreds. He does not deserve to be bothered by Maoist, and LABOUR UNION MAOIST. I guess a lot of my friends do not even know about LABOUR UNION MAOIST either. I so want to get my degree and go back and live life with my family, take their burden on me. Materilistic american life does not mean too much for me now. MOdest way ma family sanga basera, M.F's people of nepal sanga fight garna mancha. JPT, dudes chill....

The poor and uneducated people of the villages could not resist the maoists otherwise they would have. These maoists are trying the same thing in the city now. The ones in the city will be quiet to some extent, but when it's too much they are going to come out and they are going to burn every effing one of those maoists.

These buggers Prachanda and idiot Baburam of course know this... but they are using uneducated nepalese to gain power and wear Rolex watches and ride Mercedez. Nothing good gonna come these buggers.

MAOISTS NEED TO GET THE F#%K OUTTA NEPAL!! THEIR DAYS ARE SERIOUSLY NUMBERED!! Hate to say it but, LOKTANTRA my ass, its actually GUNDATANTRA and MAOBADI-TANTRA thats f#%king running our malfunctioning corporation known as Nepal today.

Everyone needs to be aware of what's going on in the cities of Nepal right now. Make sure you tell your folks back home to not keep any valuables and money in the house. Only the bare essential cash will suffice. You don't want these maoists looters to pay a visit and take all of your savings and jewellery. - Put valuables and jewellery in the bank - make sure the windows and doors are locked and strong - put bars outside windows and doors so that there are no surprise visitors at night Share this information with relatives back home. Prevention is better than cure. Prevent the maoists from having easy access to your house. Prevent the maoist from taking away your family's hard earned savings. Act now so you don't have to regret later.

Soon after the April movement was over, we stopped seeing lots of personalities here in sajha who were in blind support for the SPA and maoist alliance. It almost seemed like they were fanatically supporting it. Now that the maoists have come down to their levels creating atrocities in the capital itself, it's just a matter of time until these fanatics' families will be targetted in some way by the maoists. I'm sure they realize that. No wonder they keep their mouth shut thesedays about thier undying support for the maoist SPA collaboration. Whatever the case, the baseline is that you might think that it's not going to happen to you. When it hits you, you wish you were a little more prepared. Remember to: - Put valuables and jewellery in the bank - make sure the windows and doors are locked and strong - put bars outside windows and doors so that there are no surprise visitors at night

hate to say this, but if people formed an anti maoist force and fought 'em, we would creat Colombia in Nepal; the Army vs. the leftist gurerillas and the private security like someone mentioned here fighting both...i don't know what the solution is, but more violence is not it! thanks karma

There is no need to fight against the Army. Only the Maoist Looters and exploiters. Each community should form a meeting to fight against such maoist activities. Community can do things like have people keep watch during the night, and blow loud horns if suspicious activities are detected by group of people who look like they are upto no good. Then everyone should have the obligation to come out and fend off the bastards.
