Spoiler indeed. Who says emotion and commerce can not go hand in hand, or perhaps even better and more real for our time, emotion can not be commercialized ?
On a more serious note, love (any kind) is indeed an exaggerated perception of reality and pretty natural. It’s all in neurochemicals.
And there is really no essential difference between the passion (an important component of love) of a person IN LOVE (nature exaggerating for him) and the passion of a person SEEKING LOVE (exaggerating for himself).
HAHAHA..Nepe-jee, I have always loved your commentaries--be it on serious issues like politics or current affairs or on topics of light veins but pertaining to passionate hobbies of our life like music or ghazals. And I like the amount of passion you weave into your words in discussing stuffs in almost all of your posts. It's quite remarkable.
Coming to the topic, I think you caught the right word here: 'exaggeration'. Truth be told, and I firmly believe that, most of us are hopelessly romantic when it comes to few human emotions and that one's imagination tends to get 'unbounded' with hopeless romanticism . And there are very few emotions which triggers you past your limit of realistic imagination -- love is one and perhaps only.
The older you become, the closer you tend to come in terms of reality and all these hopeless romanticism that you see or hear in music or ghazals starts to sound 'fake' (sorry for the word-- i am still equally passionate about art and music) to some extent. HAHAHA....
just my 2 unwanted cents-- perhaps some food for thought for some who haven't seen enough of this materialistic world
(This, by no means, is to discourage the creative juice from coming out of Dr. Shirish's wonderful mind. Daactar saap, please keep coming :) )
Oh well, reminded me of this wonderful song so I better post it. I like Kishore's lines (sung by Shashi Kapoor in the movie), but then I think Mohd. Shafeek's lines (sung by Amitabh in the movie) is closer to reality.

Couple of things. First off, what you call ‘fake’ is also a ‘genuine’ thing in its own right, Hoina ra ? And in romance, it sure is. Nobody deceives nobody in romance. Both parties know pretty well the truth (genuine part) of the fake they exchange. Yes, younger people too.
Fakeness makes the stuff more presentable. That’s all.
Fakeness of the commercial world (wink wink) is not the same as the fakeness of the romantic world. The first one is deception and only the giver knows about it, the second one is art and both the giver and taker know about it ;-)
Something certainly happens/changes when you become older/mature. However, I am not sure if it is only ability to know or come closer to the terms of reality. As your chances, prospects, reactivity diminishes and the relative cost of romantic love increases, they might have their own effect on how you think.
So, it is equally possible that adults are in “denial†(to a certain extent at least) about romantic love rather than “knowing†how fake it is.
It’s time for some psychologist to intervene this debate, I guess.
