Hi friends, Like new songs have not depth so is with new Bollywood stuffs where a guy falls in lov with a girl, she somehow manges to come abroad (so that Indians viewers could see foreign posh locales, Europe/Amrika or at least Malaysia).......and finally other clumsy guy enters the scene and movie ends.
Fed up with such masalas. Perhpas 'Taare Zameen Par' was the last Hindi stuff I watched during last 3-4 years despite heavily inclined towards Hindi movies to entertain myself.
whenever I get time I just try to watch old movies from 70s and 80s, Big B being one of my all time favs, not only as an actor but also as an inspiring personality, Ive watched some of his greatest works from Sholay to Kabhi Kabhi and from Mukkadar Ka Sikandar to Mard.
However, Ive missed many of them, now again Im trying to watch Old movies so can u guys share some of his BEST MOVIES. I would prefer to listen your reviews than googling.
If u ask me, KABHIE KABHIE probably was the most memorable movie from his side, still I dont like the character of Shashi Kapoor in some extent. Anyway, it was a great movie.
Now Im trying to watch SILSILA...........and looking for its site, if u have please do share. thanks.....and how was ABHIMAN, I heard its fantastic as well.
Lets talk about other MOVIES of 70s, 80s also, perhaps u may like Rajesh Khanna, Jitendra, Dharmendra, Vinod Khanna or even Sami Kapoor or Devanand....
As we r talking about SILSILA here is the one from my side:-) सर से सर्के, सरके चुनरिया its the best song from SILSILA for me, of course much soothing than देखा एक ख्वाब तो सिल्सिले हुये (thats also from same movie)
I remember a time when I used be serial viewer of Amitabh's movies (70s 80s or old ones only). Trust me I used to watch 2-3 movies everyday. Lambu has been a hero for me since teen age. His first movie as an actor is Saat Hindustani (1969)

For me sholey is the best movie ever by Lambhu. Don is also a good one. People say that the story of silsila is somewhat similar to his real life story. Rekha and lambhu used to love each other a lot at that time. Recha's tragedy life started after she was rejected by Lambhu re hai maile suneko matrai ho..
I have watched sholey 16 times and i will watch if i get a chance to watch it today too. I never felt like sleeping even when repeating it over time and again. For me best song in silsila is neela ashmaa (sang by lambhu himself) and ye kaaha aa gaye hum.
I've watched Sholay about 6 times myself and I fail to see Amitabh shining in it (since this is the Big B's thread I'm on here). It was perhaps the first movie that the villian stole all the honors...Gabbar Singh. Damn, that name itself sums up a generation in India where the Chambal dacoits were still creating their legacy in real life!!
I still can't belive that during the casting of the movie the Sippys were looking to have Danny play the role of Gabbar...That would've been a nightmare! hahahahahah
No doubt, Gabbar's performance in the movie is great. But lambu marked it differently. I have realized that lambu has not given a single smile to his most of the movies and I like his way.
Gabbar sing did not brushed his teeth for six months in real life so that his teeth will look like what it is in the movie. Can you imagine not brushing your teeth for six months. hahahhahahhah

Samsara, You are right man. You know what that's the only thing on Lambu attracted me towards him. I mean I like him watching serious like in Sholay, Deewar or other few Cinemas. I feel like There's no any other actor like Amitabh or Dilip kumar in Bollywood.

नि:सन्देह यस्ता सिनिमाहरुमा आम र विशाल वर्गहरुका लागि टन्न मनोरञ्जन भ्यालु छन् र त्यही कारणले यिनको वर्चस्व छ यत्र तत्र ।
तर कस्तो खाले मनोरञ्जन ? यो एउटा वैध प्रश्न हो । र त्यही उठाउन खोजेको ।
अलिकता बौद्धिकता पसिसकेको, भनुम् न किशोर अवस्था नाघिसकेको, दर्शकको लागि के छ तीनमा ? माने कस्तो खाले मनोतञ्जन छ ?
दुई किसिमको देख्छु म । एउटा त त्यो बौद्धिकता भन्ने जिनिसलाई सुताएर एकछिनको लागि सिनिमासंगसंगै आफु पनि मूर्ख (silly) बनी मजा लिने खालको मनोरञ्जन ।
अर्को चाही यस्ता सिनिमामा हुने परम्परागत मूल्य मान्यताको पैरवीबाट हामी आफैमा निहित त्यस्तो मूल्यप्रतिको स्वीकृती (conformism) संग मेल खान गई उत्पन्न समन्वयको आत्मरञ्जन ।
अब कुरो, के यसभन्दा फरक खालको मनोरञ्जन/आत्मरञ्जन दिने हिन्दी सिनिमा छन् ? अवश्य । र यस्ता सिनिमाप्रति हाम्रा दम्तरीका अनुभव, टिप्पणी के छ ? हो, यही जिज्ञासाले यहाँ हाजिर भा’ हुँ ।
बाँडम् साथी हो यो “वैकल्पिक धार”, “समानान्तर धार” वा “कला-सिनेमा” भनिने जातका सिनिमाहरुसंगको अनुभवहरु पनि ।
Nepe prabho...tyo "arth", "aakros", "mirch masala", "dharavi", "bawandar", "maasom", "paththar", "ardha satya" ..etc. jasta cinemako kuro uthako bhae...I was all over them....aafu ta masala cinema ni uttikai herdine...yi maathi lekhekaa jastaa pani ustai dhyan magna bhaera herinthyo ... maja tara beglaa beglai prabho ... eklai herda maathikaa jasta heriyo bishes kohi kohi jasta sanga...."kuch kuch hota hai" jasta ni hernai paryo...masalaa ta heriyo heriyo ani tyastai ustai parya bela angreji ni herekai ho.
He is very heavily influenced by Al Pacino. If it was not for his string of failures at the box office right from his debut to a very good number of years after that, 'the angry young man' shade from Pacino wouldn't have rubbed off on him as much as it did and which he was able to portray very successfully in many of his flicks.
Michael Corleone of Godfather Trio or Vijay of Deewar or Shakti and Tony Montona of Scarface or Vijay Dinanath Chauhan of Agneepath, I don't see a lot of difference in the shades while I give full marks to AB for still being able to give some originality and tinges of local flavor to the characters which appealed his local/home fans.
That said, if you really want to watch his work in most original form: 1) Saudagar 2) Namak Halal.... 3) Satte pe Satta..
and in few other off beat roles where he is more than just the angry young man, are worth an applause.
If above mentioned "saudagar" is not a mistake then I must confess it is the most crappiest movie ever of AB. I think it is one of the worst movies at box office of AB... truly that movie sucks like anything else....

36 Chowringhee lane हेरेसि देवश्री रायको नी फ्यान भैयो। दूरदर्शनबाट आउनि बंगाली फिलिम नि छोडिएन। Mr. and Mrs. Iyer नि असाध्यै मन पर्यो, राहुल बोसका अरु फिलिम जस्तै एक दिन चौबिस घन्टे, चमेली नि तेस पछि हेरियो। तेस्का धेरै फिलिमहरु लो बजेट हुने गर्छन् अलि भेट्न गाह्रो हुन्छ। तेस्तै 15 Park Avenue हेरेको त छ महिना नि पुग्या छैन होला। कोंकोना सेन शर्माको रेन्ज देखाउंछन यी दुइ सिनेमाले, हुनत राष्ट्रिय पुरस्कार तेत्तिकै पाइने नि त हैन। अब The Japanese Wife आउँदैछ यो साल पक्कै खोजेर हेरिनेछ।
