Maybe,

People did realize the fact....
There are still some games to be played.
Of course, USC/ND game is going to get a huge tv rating, given the playoffs implentations that game holds.

Auburn against Tennessee is a big game in itself. Auburn, should be worrying about winning first. They can care less about WINNING it convincingly.

I just hope Sooners won't fall down like they did at the end of the season last year. Iowa state/CU they do not have very impressive records but they surely are opporunistic.

I was hoping until last couple of days that.. maybe by some change in heart of Spurrier will make himr taking the gators JOB. Instead, he is going to the rival GAME COCKs. I also feel sorry gor Butch Davis. The way the BRowns organization had been treating him, he is losing bothways. He is not assured of a job the next season and he cannot take the wonderful opporunity down in FLordia.

Oh... what a mess, RICKY williams situation is getting reinstated. After all, He has to come down to the earth.

GO Patriots

I know Oklahoma shutout the "Mighty" Baylor Bears the greatest program in the college football..lol..Well Well... before we go all ga ga over Oklahoma, lets see who Oklahoma played....Baylor..Who?? and even with the "invincible" Sooners only managed only 2 touch downs on the first half. Baylor ..a program that has a dismal season like usual..a program that is the bottom of Big 12 conference..a program that won only 3 games this year..Indeed Oklahoma was very " impressive" also its "defense" was phenomenal not giving up 35 points like they did against aTm and Cowboys. As impressive as last year when so called "the greatest team" of the all time went on to win 12-0 in the regular season only to be busted by 4 touch downs by lowly Kansas-State and still making it to Alice in wonderland world of BCS Championship, only to be hammered by LSU tigers. I do not know if Oklahoma have still realized that how much of a hype they get. If they think they are that good they will be again busted on the National TV like last year by USC or Auburn whoever makes it to Orange Bowl eventually..more likely USC. Because USC and Auburn both have awesome defense, USC having number 5 scoring defense and Auburn has number one scoring defense in the nation and Oklahoma has not played any team that is as good as USC and Oklahoma so I think Ok trolls should enjoy till another humiliation.

Now lets see who Auburn played... if you do not know Auburn-Alabama rivalry then it's okay..if you do, you would very much know that record does not mean anything in the Iron-Bowl. No matter how high ranked..anything can happen in this game. As a matter of fact, Alabama's defense is number 2 in the country. That being said, Auburn's offense was terrible in the first half but they only tried to run the ball. But second half was totally different. Auburn scored three back to back touch downs in its three possession. Also Auburn threw and ran the pigskin like they did all year along. The main thing is that Auburn's defense was still greatthat they did not let Alabama score a touch down till 90 sec left in the game and they never let Auburn never out of game. Like Trev Albert of ESPN said a great team always find its way back in the third quarter which Auburn exactly did. Still 21-13 is not a sign of struggle regardless against a team with a top defense on thier own home.

Even after what Auburn did to Tennessee in the regular season and doubting Auburn's ability to win against them in SEC CG is hilarious. Tigers killed Tennessee in Tennessee infront of 110,000 Vols fans. That was when they had 2 phenomenal true freshmen QB's. Now they are injured, and Vols are playing with a third-stringer who couldn't do a squat against Notre Dame. Think of it man, with that defense Auburn will bloody murder the struggling Vols offense unless they try to rush but will be of no avail. Last time I checked, Vols managed just mere 104 rushing yards..enough said. Still Vols are ranked 15 and I hope they will show-up and put up a game agaist Auburn. Defeating ranked 15 will be another feather in Auburn's great season.

Like I said before, the only reason OK and USC top 2 is becuase Auburn started out the season at 17. With all due respect to OK and USC,If they both go undefeated the voters simply will not let other team get infront of them and that is what happening with Auburn or else everyone agrees that Auburn is number one right now. If you do not believe then do yourself a favor and copy & paste any of the following links:

http://www.collegefootballnews.com/2004/Rankings/CFN_Rankings.htm

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/writers/stewart_mandel/11/23/power.rankings/index.html

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/powerranking?season=2004&week=13&pollId=1

http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/polls/117

Yes..Auburn is number one on all of them except the CBS sportsline in which Auburn is number 2 and all "impressive" Sooners are third on all of them. I hope they are not lying..;). It is ironic that Auburn is headed towards Sugar Bowl which is okay considering the system we have no matter how faulty it is but nobody can take away what Auburn has accomplished this year. I hope Auburn will play VT or Miami in the Sugar bowl.

Go Auburn!! Go Falcons!!

I laughed at first. then I found you were serious.

OH yeah Sooners beat Baylor, the team standing on the opposite spectrum of the winning side in the BIG 12 Conference. Yes, it's true OU scored ONLY 2 TDs at the half.... wait a minute? How many points did Tigers score by half time?? ... so what kind of comparisons are you trying to make here??

it was the hype built from last season that still give OU the upper hand in the BCS standing?? NO kidding, give me a break, the last season had actually hurt the Sooners positioning. Oh yeah The preseason standing alslo hurted Auburn's outcome upto this point. DUDE, it's SOoners recruiting A. PEterson (THE MVP from High School football.. and possible Heisman winner this season) and Jason White's (The reigning Heisman trophy holder and prolly the holder of the next one) stayin in the school for 5th year, with already proven Offense and defense, which helped their cause. And to this point, they had lived upto the expectations.

IRon bowl : it matters BIG only for Auburn Tigers and the Alabama Crimson Tides. It does matter to other teams connected via the BCS chain but it's nothing big than just another game to teams like USC or OU. Alabama had (still has) a good defense going to the game.. how about their offense?? they were lacking some key players, weren't they? ANyways, can you tell me what was the ranking of Auburn's offense going to the game?? Not even in the TOP 50s I believe. Besides Alabama went to the game with a 6-4 record, how good a record is that do you think?? Oh yeah! RITE... ranking don't matter in the IRon Bowl... it's always tough in there. THe whole sports world including the ESPNS, FSNS, CBS, ABCS, or whatever medias didn't buy the fact.. why should i?? And what was the score?? 21-13, within a touchdown reach. IT was still within Alabama's reach until the last AUburn possession. What a joke? IT was a big win for the Tigers. YEah true, but what about the overall NCAA Division I picture?? it ain't that big a win. It's a win against team with a 6-4 record and unranked also. That's how the league sees it. And that's how I see it.

And oh yeah, Tigers DEFENSE was so great......... they didn't allow a TD until the last quarter. How many TDS do you think the SOONERS allow during the whole game?? BAylor has the worst record in Big 12, yet they are a NCAA divison 1 team. IF OUs 35-0 performance against Baylor is not IMpressive than what is impressive?? Auburns 33-3 win over Citadel, a second tier team?? come on no kidding.

oH yeah, Sooners haven't played a team like USC or AU. you are so right. How about AU, have they played a team like OU or USC?? same goes to USC!

If beating COwboys by 3 and Texas A&M by 7 were so bad then what do you make of beating LSU by 1 point and Alabama by 8? (LSU were then ranked #4 but Alabama is not ranked at all)

And then What do you make about Sooners victory over Longhorns. the final score was 12-0. BY then Texas was ranked #5, see how they rank now?? (#5 still)
SImilarly, Cowboys were ranked # 20 then, they are ranked #22 now.
A & M were ranked # 22 then, they are ranked #19 now.

And let's see how the Ranked teams beaten by Auburn stood then and stand now.
LSU, #4 then, #13 now,
Tennessee, #8 then, #15 now
Georgia, #4 then, #8 now. See, all those teams had fallen way below what they were initially ranked.
On the contrary, Only Cowboys has slipped two ranks behind, whereas A&M had jumped upto #19, and Texas had been strong at #5.
THis shows, Texas is the next big team after the top 3, maybe top 4.

So, did I answer your question about Sooners not beating the REALLY strong teams??

By far TIgers have only one Shutdown game: against Louisiana Monroe Indians(??? what conference- Sunbelt), 31-0. and that happened to be their very first game of the season.

Trojans have two shudowns: against CSU: 49-0, and Washington 38-0.

And Sooners have managed two shudowns as well: against #5 TExas (12-0), and Baylor (35-0),
the Baylor game happened to be the latest one.

You see, how the teams are faring as the season moved by.
YOu still think there's injustice. And you are criticizing me. Come on man.
I have been giving all the credits to Auburn for what they deserved. I had even ranked them above OU and USC. I stilll rank them above USC. But the more we talk about college football, the less impressive The TIgers look.

Auburn heading towards Sugar Bowl is not IRONIC, just disappointing.
ANyways, YOu should realize that SEC and BIG 10 have contracts with ESPNS, not the BIG 12. I can tell who will favor whom in what channels. I will feel sorry for the Tigers but won't call it an irony if they had to go to the SUgar Bowl. Just avoid playing Texas there.. and they should be fine.

Last year had a disappointing end for the SOOners. This year should be different.
I don't know what's fair and what's unfair in Sports. I only know everybody wants their teams to win the championships. As long as the most deserving team wins it all, I have no problems.

GO SOONERS.

Nothing Personal
Williams Brother.

We both love College football.

AX bro,

CU is an average team this year. With a 6-4 record they are already BOWL eligible. Actually in Bowl picture for first time in 3 seasons I believe.
As a matter of fact They were knocked out of the bOWl game by THE CornHuskers last season. SO, they have a really good opporunity to return the favor by knocking Nebraska out of the Bowl game. And also hand them the first losing season in 5 years (maybe more than that).

After facing all the criticisms regarding SEX scandals and applying illegal approaches while recruiting new athletes had really harmed the CU organizaion. SO they are poised to have a good season.in fact, with a win OVER the COrnHUskers (combined with Iowa state's loss) they might be facing Oklahoma forthe BIG 12title as the Big 12 North Leader.
So, CornHuskers have opportunities of their own to forbid Buffalors from going to the BIG 12 championship game.

So, a lot is at stake for both the teams on Friday.
CU have the biggest opportunity to built their severely crushed Reputation.
I like Buffaloes in this game but C'HUskers might pull out the vicotry, simply because it's a home game for Nebraska.

GO SOONErs
Oh.. go Eagles as well

jai Nepal.

proud bro, here's something surprising for you. add 3 in front of 5 and make that 35. YES 35 consecutive years, that's how long Huskers been playing the College Bowl games. I wish you would have done some googling before posting. Now, I understand how much knowledge you have regarding Big 12 division. how about little search for coaches Bob Devaney (1962-1972) and Tom Osborne(1973-1997) and Frank Solich(1998-2003, you will be surprised to see their records?? It was 1961 when Huskers had the last losing season ...... les hear about those SEC and Big 10 and Pac 10 teams history....

I have been watching Huskers-Buffs game since 1993 and i believe Buffs only won twice. Here?s the record for Huskers-Buffaloes, with Huskers having big edge 44-16-2.
It used to fun during frazier-cordell era.

If I were coach Callahan, I would bring Huskers great Tom Osborne for prep talk before the game, It?s about the Huskers football history, does Callahan care???

Aakash bro, I hope we will have something good to write about after the game with Buffs??

Still have faith on huskers players?.

Thank you for the updates. Carnell Williams certainly is doing good overall and awesome job for week 11. Not too bad for my first week in this I guess. Let's see how it goes next week. We have already accepted the fact that BCS is the system we have to deal with no matter how faulty it is. With that said, USC and OK are number one and two within that system and that is the fact and no one trying to distort . If they remain same way. Of course they will play on Oragne. Now tell me why they remain that way? Because both teams started out at that position since the beginning of the season. I know Oklahoma comes only second in the nation in recruiting after USC. But you missed my point completely. I said if a team starts at the top in the pre season, they stay that way UNLESS they lose to somebody. If they don?t then that team remains that way in ranking because voters will not let other teams pass them no matter how great they play. Got my point??

Auburn's out of the conference games are indeed soft. If you scroll up this thread up and see yourself what I have to say about Auburn's playing with teams like Citadel so no need for your redundancy. Citadel would have never been on our schedule had Bowling Green decided not to pull off at the last moment to re-schedule with Oklahoma. So Auburn had to put whoever was available and same with La ?Monroe. Had Georgia Tech not decided to pull of citing the realignment of new ACC, we would have played Yellow Jackets instead of Monroe. No one is denying that fact. But yours comparing LSU, Georgia and Tennessee's ranking when they played Auburn and now where they stand is funny as hell. What are you trying to prove by then and now rankings? Obviously teams that play with Oklahoma has better chance of improving their rankings than teams those play with Auburn because if you know the BCS system that well then it is self explanatory that you won'tlose that much of ground in rankings if you get beaten by a higher ranking team (in this case #2 Sooners). That's why Cowboys, aTm and Texas(another hype?please do not get me started to tell how they played against Arky) stayed put or did not lose that much of rankings. Remember that LSU was a defending National Champion (yeah remember the Sugar Bowl last year..lol) when Auburn knocked them out. You can not discredit the fact that Auburn won 10-9. So? Auburn beat the National Champion even if it was just a point difference. Reason LSU fell so low was because Auburn was ranked out of 10 that time. Same with Tennessee when Auburn played them they were number 8 and Auburn was number 9(in coaches) and Georgia is beaten just 2 weeks ago and dropping from number 4 to 8 is not that earth shaking tremor. So your theory of Oklahoma?s strong opponents holds no water. Auburn still beat the better teams at that particular point. Come SEC CG game, Auburn will be playing against #15 team and who Oklahoma going to play..ummm ..some mighty Big 12 North Champion..congratulation.!!..Lol..

So how many top ranked team does a number three team like Auburn needs to beat to bump into top 2? Yes sir ..you are right ..it does not matter because unless those top 2 do not lose any game nothing going to happen, understood now?

Since you gave me a weird-ass view about Iron Bowl, let me spin it my way. I will let you believe in your belief. So.. a crippled program like Baylor who were 2-7 and does not even come on top 50 gets shut out by #2 team by 35-0 and you call it impressive????? Don't make me laugh now but 6-4 Alabama with 2nd in overall defense in the NATION looks far more of a competitor to me and that too in their own turf. I can't even compare Baylor and Alabama. Give me a break? Looks like you love to play with numbers. But you need to spit it out with the right ones. Btw, Auburn is nationally ranked 21st in scoring offense and 27 th in the total offense and your distorting the fact that they do not even come in top 50 just shows how OK trolls ride in hype. Check your facts dude.

"Auburn heading towards Sugar Bowl is not IRONIC, just disappointing.
ANyways, YOu should realize that SEC and BIG 10 have contracts with ESPNS, not the BIG 12. I can tell who will favor whom in what channels. I will feel sorry for the Tigers but won't call it an irony if they had to go to the SUgar Bowl. Just avoid playing Texas there.. and they should be fine."

How come Auburn's Sugar Bowl appearance would be disappointing? I would say so only of Auburn is defeated by USC or OK. Disappointing as in over rated OK's going to Orange? Don't worry about Auburn playing with Texas . If they do, you know what will happen. Auburn will stomp all over Texas. Arkansas ..a team that lost to LongHorns by one point?Auburn basically man-handled them. So just be happy with the fact that OK and Texas probably will not have to face Auburn. Now don't go Bob Stoops on me by saying ESPN has a contract with SEC. If you are that avid follower of SEC, you should have realized that ESPN has only one SEC game on Saturday nights on prime-time. All the major SEC games are on CBS. By the way, numbers of Big 12 games are contracted with ABC, the big brother of ESPN. ABC even do not have its own sports webpage, you would find that ABC?s sports is redirected to espn.com. Why would ESPN favor SEC over BIG 12 when its sporting events are affiliated with ABC and why would they want to lose all those revenues. Again, your whining holds no truth. Just because ESPN and major sporting establishments are ranking Auburn number one does not mean that they all have contractual obligation with SEC. Again, Check your facts Dude.

I agree with you on one point that the best should win. Sad part is that we will never know which one is a real national champion if all of the top three remain undefeated. If OK beats USC or Auburn in Orange, I will eat my words and will be first to congratulate you all Sooners Boommers. Till then ?WAR EAGLE!!

Well AX, if you do not get the point I were trying to make then this is what I meant:

Buffs can ruin the C'Huskers season and their long long presence in the Bowl Games.
I were trying to address Akash brother on my latest posting, by error I had your nick typed. I still didn't know why you were !!!!&&^? Anyways, I see it. By the way I was talking about BIG 12 and especially CU in this year. I have been folllowing Big 12 for years also. This season I haven't missed a single CU except for the Aggies game. That game turned out to be a close one. CU lost by some 3 points I believe. I don't know why do you find any problems!!!

I tell you what, I dwell in the present and the possible future, not the past. GOOGLING?? what for? We are talking about the season 2004 and not the 60s or 70s. If you want I can provide you the details of any BIG college progams.
If you wanna discuss about the past, then let's start a new thread and talk about it. Got no problem with anything. Everytime, you have your team going towards the wrong direction you bring the past into account. I have no time GIggling around it. You can say whatever you want.

I don't see the point you are trying to make anyways. I am interest in the stuffs of this year. If you wanna take the issue further from the season, You may anytime.

GO SOONERS

Glad to know you are following CU and Big 12 first, you will certainly going to know more about Huskers as well.

You can limit your knowledge to yourself. See if you can find someone else interested in it.
Oh.. what A FAnstastic Opportunity to get on my back huh!! Congratulations. You lived up to the expectations.

Anyways,
This Thanksgiving weekend brought us a lot of interesting football games.
IT began with Manning's great acceleration towards Breaking Dan Marinos' 20 years old (still running) record for most TD passes thrown in a single season follwed by The Louisville Cardinals' (NCAA) scoring points in basketball figures against the bearcats (70-7) in a conference football game, Iowa state continued its history of failing to win the big games with Bowl games/Conference title implications (lucky BUFFS!), Matt leinart pushed for the Heisman with his trojans manhandling the FIghting IRish to make a statement about which is the best football program in the country?, then the Bengals won the shootout against the Browns in a record (highest scoring game in the expansion era, second highest overall) setting day with a final score of58-48, THE Patriots continued to build their streaks, this time of scoring first in most consecutive games (16) against the so HIGHLY Advertised Defensiveminded Baltimore team, the Dolphins beat the 49ers to avoid being the worst football team in the country in the battle of the worsts, and finally BRONCOS scored... sorry DIDN't scored in their final possession with a field goal to beat their most hated rivals, and in the meantime lost the AFC WEst lead to the rival Chargers, with a lot of tough games in the next 5 weeks.
Wait!!!!!!! we still have a game to go. Favre and the packers against faulk and the rAMs.

ELi Manning lost his second straight start. He had some good looks, yet he did what was expected of most of the rookies in the National Football league. THe post-game interviews showed more matured version of Manning then the one in the game. I hope he wins his next start. BIG BEn also had a very mediocre performance in the second straight week, yet his team still beat the Redskins. seems like DRew Brees is going to stay in San Deigo forever, his performance is getting better every week. All of a sudden the BILLS looked like a play-off team. THe winning Formula (Culpepper-Moss) for the Vikings got into the place again. Oh... where are the chiefs heading?? Weren't they the pre-season favorite to win the SUperbowl this year?? MY oh my....

GO PATS GO

SAD BUT TRUE: Every story has its end. THE streaks of CornKuskers melted in their own home, like the snow collected from last couple of days. so much to the disappointment of Too PRoud fans of the Nebraska footbal fan, THE BUFFS bullied their way towards victory and to the BIG 12 championship bowl game. ANd of course, towards a better earning $$$$ BOWL game.

Certainly the west-coast offense didn't work. But is Callahan ready to make changes to his strategies in the coming season? We will wait and see.

Notre Dame didn't help the Auburn tIgers cause either. instead they made it worse. another blowout win for the Trojans and a decesive lead in the BCS.

Maybe, the Tigers only hope this time around is to expect an upset in the BIg 12 championship game ( well, the BUffaloes surely did keep the game close until the last quarter last year). Or, the Tigers can expect the game to be a very close one (as close as possible if Sooners are to win) complemented with their own HUGE BLOw out win agains the # 15 ranked VOlunteers in the SEC title game. And then they should hope the judges to favor them HUGELY over the Sooners (unless TRojans get beaten by UCLA) in the polls such that they skip to the all important #2 spot in the overall BCS ranking despite the vast difference in the COmputer rankings (between the two teams).

As of now, simple win by both the TRojans and the Sooners over their opponents next week will see them facing each other in the most important ORANGE BOWL.
Actually, I am more concerned about the Longhorns leap-frogging the California Bears. THeir win against the Aggies certainly closed the gap in the BCS avg. but came out short as of taking the lead against the Golden Bears. Right now the difference in the BCS Avg. is 0.0023 between these teams. A very average performance of the G. BEars against the G. Eagles (Southern Miss.) might help the Texas cause.

THE Eagles (Hometown Boston) really disappointed me. While the eagles inthe NFC clinched their division, the Eagles in the BIG east Conference failed to do so. With WVU mountaineers already out of the way, all BC needed was a win against the ORangemen, and they just fell to do that. As a consequence, they didn't only fail to clinch the conference title but also lost the top 25 spot in the BCS ranking.

finally,
I am NOT Surprised not to see any postings IN FAVOR of the Auburn Tigers yet. seems like all of their supporters became tired like most of those ESPN analysts. Hope the Sooners to Collapse in the BIG XII title game like they did last year against Kansas State! That can certainly help their cause. I do like the Tigers. it's just that only the TOP 2 teams in the BCS ranking get to play for the CHampionship game.

GO SOONERS

Auburn fans getting tired? Lolz..you crack me up everytime I read your post dude. There was nothing to write about Tigers last week as they were idle. Duh..You seem to be so bitter about ESPN analysts..what about CBS? and for that matter Sports Illustrated and Your own good ole' ABC which is featuring Big 12 CG. They are all still saying Auburn ahead of OK if not USC. Just be glad that Ok will be getting a chance to play NC this year..but as over-rated as they are, it will be another embarassing Royale ass whupping as they got last year from LSU by USC if not from Auburn. I will be praying that Matt Leinart will not shred OK's secondary..a wishful thinking from an Auburn Fanatic to you all Boomers Sooners.

Here is what I think:

USC will beat UCLA
Miami will beat VT
Oklahoma will beat Colorado
Auburn will beat Tennessee

It will be USC and OK in the Orange Bowl and Auburn and Miami in the Sugar Bowl.

We are concentrated on beating the Vols and winning the SEC, the nation's most important college football conference, and then going to the Sugar Bowl and beating the ACC champ, which is the way God intended for it to be around these parts until basketball season really cranks up.
