Go to http://www.mycreditkeeper.com/Default.aspx and register there. You will get first month free. Call then on 28th day and tell them that you are canceling and they will extend by a month and cancel after that or keep in its just $9 per month which is cheaper compare to others $14/month.

If you just want to check your current score and all other informations, (but don't want to keep track of ur changing score or any other informations in the future) then just go to privacymatters123.com or freecreditscore.com or triplecreditscore.com. All of them seems same to me. I do every year from freecreditscore.com. Make sure you cancel them before the free trail expires. You can print your detail credit report from them.

A very informative thread indeed!
For a free credit score, I found that www.creditkarma.com was recommended on some journals that I happened to read.
Regarding a free credit report, you are entitled to a free one annually from each credit reporting agencies by requesting it from the site www.annualcreditreport.com. Also, if you applied for credit and got declined, you are entitled to a free report from that credit reporting agency, provided you request it within the grace period mentioned on the letter of decline.
FYI, while using the aforementioned sites, if you read carefully and decline the solicitations, they will prove to be absolutely free with no string attached.
I hope this edition clears the confusion!

There are three agencies that keeps track of your credit scores and history. They are Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion. Recently ( 2 week ago) , I did my through two sites - privacymatters123.com and freecreditscore.com. But In both cases, the report were from Experian, SO they were exactly same. If you wish to get from all three credit agencies then there is no trail period; u have to pay some extra fees. No matter from which online sites you do, a Credit report from same credit agencies is same. However, it might be different for all three different ones. Also, some of might here are confused- A Credit Score is different from a FICO score, where some rare place do check FICO score. As someone mentioned above, you are entitled to your credit score once a year from all three diffent agencies.

I am not 100 % sure. But, my understanding is your credit score doesn't go down if the person himself checks his credit scores. However, a lot of inquery by lenders and other third party in your credit report is a -ve thing and it lowers your credit scores ( by 2-5 points) each time you have that on the credit report.

I have downloaded my credit history for free but do I have to pay in order to get the actual credit score. The report does not mention the actual score. The website is asking for $ 7.95 to get the score. I used the www.annualcreditreport.com
thanks

You can watch the report for free on annualcreditscore.com but you NEED to pay to watch your score unless you made an approach at your bank and asked them to pull up your report but that will hurt your credit score. I just checked mine from annualcreditscore.com 743.
