Hi all,

The sixth "Entrepreneurs' Forum" will take place in Kathmandu in early May.

The guest this time is: Mrs. Ambika Shrestha, owner of Hotel Dwarika's, a long-time tourism businesswoman and a well-known heritage conservationist.

Blending personal stories with lessons gleaned from professional experiences,
Mrs. Shrestha will talk informally about the challenges and opportunities of
running and managing a business in Nepal.

In the audience will be about 50-60 young Nepali entrepreneurs and businesspeople -- most of whom are already running their own businesses in Nepal. There will be a Q & A session, which, as always will be lively, afterward. [If you wish to be attend this forum, please send me an email at: ashu@sajha.com]

The partners for this Forum are: Hotel Radisson, The Himalayan Times English daily newspaper, New Business Age magazine and Vista International (a TV program production house).

The past speakers in the Entrepreneurs' Forum have been:

Mr. Shyam Kakshapati, CEO of Nanglo Restaurants.
Mr. Sanjib Rajbhandari, CEO of Mercantile

Mr. Raghu Shah, CEO of Himalayan Telecommerce, an int'l call center.
Mr. Prabhakar SJB Rana, ex-Chairman of Soaltee Group
and Mr. Padma Jyoti, chairman of Jyoti Group.

Ashu,
I would have loved to attend it; one question though, how often do you guys organize this forum ?
ashu Posted on 06-Apr-03 07:57 PM

Babaal,

At the rate we are going, we organize such a forum once every five to six weeks or
so, and the speed suits us just fine.

Organizing this kind of forum is NOT our primary job, but a pleasant professional diversion which allows us to bring our private-sector clients and friends together
for chiya-siya and intense guff-suff, not to mention networking among themselves.

This started out as a Marin Chautari-esque discussion forum for business, and along the way, we have managed to tie up with other credible private-sector institutions to share the burden and to make a wider splash.

Ravin Lama's The Himalayan Times newspaper gives short coverage.
Then Madan Lamsal's New Business Age magazine writes up a more detailed
account and publishes it usually a month after the event.

And Raksha Pandey's Vista International edites and finishes audio-visual CDs.
All of the above at the partners' own expense.

Plus, there are talks of putting snippets of such forum in a business radio program,
and so on and on. [All this is what our frends in Hollywood call merchandising of
the forum. :-)]

A number of sajha folks -- both based in the US and Nepal -- have attended previous forums, and provided you let me know ahead of time, I will invite you too ( assuming
you are intererested in business.)

That said, Mrs. Ambika Shrestha is one helluva inspirational lady who has much to
teach us.
