you can use your last paystubs [ which has almost all the information about the withholdings etc etc] and create a substitue for the W2. go to irs.gov for more information on how to create this substitute. you should get the FED TAX id and STATE TAX ID from youe employer though. hope this helps.

mama, If you can dig out your last pay-stub( from december 2002 or earlier), you can use that as an alternative of W-2. dangggg

mountainmama, Do you mean to say that you can digest only "good" thing and you don't even want to acknowledge of *any* "bad" thing? What if I want to comment on something and I have "good" as well "bad" things to say? What if I see only "bad" (your definition, not mine) things and choose to say exactly that? Are we some sort of police state that I have to clamp down just because some people think what I have to say might be "bad?" I guess, I am in mood for a debate or even argument, however you want to see/take it as... and of course, I have full sympathy for your lost W2. Poor you!

Just curios, what exactly happens if IRS receives your tax form(s) that is postmarked a week after apr 15, or even a day after the deadline for that matter? Does anyone have any idea? Good question...eh ? :)

Just imagine! They, the fearful IRS (if you happen to be illegal then yes, now defunct INS too) will come in commando suits with their nightvision goggle and tear gas and long pointed knife dangling from their thin west. Remember they will come only at night. When you are fast asleep. They throw first the tear gas and smoke gas and (oh well the nerve gas is with saddam hussein's ghost now, so no nerve gas) through you window and kick you khatara door open. Imagine the rest. So, Fill that damn thing NOW!

nuts! Have no fear, IRS will not do anything as long as your pay your taxes ( well! that's what we all thing) If you own them money in tax and file after april 15th, they will simply charge yuou interest for the tax you owe. That's all. so, if you own money to and you file your tax later than april 15th, just send extra buck or two. But if you get a refund, they won't pay you intereest on that refund ni. have fun filing your taxes, dangggg

Guys don't worry if you are late sending it. Just do it by the 20th. They have so many tax envelopes they don't even care but do it within this month. My friend's father works in the IRS in Andover. He said that to me. Americans are so lazy, if they don't do this noone will ever file it so this is just a "thing" to hurry them up. Smile!!!
