Please share your experience with the visit to Canada. I want to know your experience with visit to Canada and re-entry to US. My situation follows: * visiting canada on a university sponsored program * I-20 recently updated in new SEVIS system * official transcripts taken from registrar's office, CGPA at 3.9 * enrolled full time for summer and fall 2003 * on full assistantship with 100% tuition waiver * visiting canada for less than 10 days * travelling by air * 1-year multiple entry visa already expired * not applying for visa renewal at the border Please suggest me if you are in such situation before. If you have faced or have heard someone faced any problem for re-entry. Will appreciate if someone writes how to get Canadian visa too..... Don't tell me go and talk to your international education office. I am frustrated with their ability to answer the questions and taking the cases seriously. The repeated suggestion I got from an officer there was "you have 50-50 chance of re-entry. If the mood of the person happens to be good, your good luck, you are permitted. If the mood of the person happens to be bad, tough luck to you, you will be denied. Therefore, it is up to you to decide whether you want to go or not. I suggest don't go out at this time". These are the exact words from OIE officer. Thanks in advance. Suggest as best as you can.

though i have not faced such situation before, i think you have strong case, GPA and financial aid, so dont worry abou tit. i have heard cases before aplying visa from canada and mexico and they all got it. well it will be difficult for those who are not enrolled as full time student and who have taken semester off or something. so dont worry. go for it.

Harris, forgive my ignorance, but could you explain why you think they might deny your re-entry to US? Is your US visa expired?

Yea, My multiple entry visa expired long ago. It was 1 year visa and I am already here for three years. I heard somewhere that going to Canada for less than 30 days and coming back to US does not need to be a valid visa in possession. I don't know how true is it. If the visa is expired, must I have another visa at the Point of Intry?
