There is no way that that Trophy will cross the Chitown Boundry from reading the peotically rhymed post of Mr Dialtone.I thought the Kansas would beat the crap out of you guys? I was thinking that just like the field behind the black building, you guys were doomed for the black history for Chicago. Dhukurz re? How the Hell on the Earth you came up with such a name? By the way # 7 ( Bebeto) is in your team, so can't say anything of the outcome yet. I will meet you at the soccer field. What happens if the Dhukurz lose though? All the Dhukurz guys will lose their their Dhukurnees? I think # 7 will be the first to do so. Pray for Him guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

We ain't scared. Don't ask us where were we during Michican convention..it doen't really matter..what matters is now and we are ready. By the way, marble playing was fun..don't forget dude..that's a nepali way and i like it. Peace..and of course, GO DhukurZ |

DHUKUR by Dr. Mahesh Gurung The sweet melodious call of "dhukur-kur-kur-kur" speaks for itself, its common name. Calls are either melodiously regular or the swift toned aggressive. The aggressive form is associated with mate competition, and of course involves two rivalry males. Not long ago, when Kathmandu was still a prospering little town, taking advantage of this rivalry behavior, the farmers of the Newar tribe tamed male dhukurs to attract other males. The rival dhukurs would either be trapped or shot at providing an evening meal rich in iron and protein. But now, the tradition along with the dhukurs are gone- lost in the vast smoldering exhaust fumes of Indian tampoos, maruti cars and mushrooming buildings. Pigeons and doves are placed in a single family Columbidae. All doves are placed under the genus Streptopelia and widely distributed from the foothills of the Himalayas to the high reaches of forested mountains. Most are forest dwellers often visiting shrub and cultivation. In Nepal around five different species are found. S. decaocto (Ring dove), S. chinensis (Spotted dove), S. orientalis (Rufus turtle dove), S. senegalensis (Little brown dove) and S. tranquebarica (Red turtle dove) are known to occur. The color and the song of different species vary. Most are familiar with the Ringdoves (Kurle dhukur) deep three-note call of "Dhukur-kur-kur-kur". They are grayish brown above and a distinct white-bordered, black-half collar on hind neck is found. The sexes are alike and are about 32 cm (about a foot) in length. The other familiar, often called the Tamme dhukur because of its slightly higher note of Kur-kur-kur, is also similar to the Ringdove in size and color, except for the ring necks boldly spotted and the same on the wings. They are bolder in visiting cultivations and gardens. The other dhukurs are also common but not as well categorized as the two mentioned above. Dhukurs find themselves comfortable among human settlements, but when tamed as a pet, it is never trustworthy. Given the opportunity, it will always fly away, unlike its cousin the pigeon, maina, suga and other pet birds that tend to return to their cages. That is why there is an old saying - "dhukur jasto baiguni". The name for our Chicago team sounds right and here it goes- "Go dhukurz..Go!- sound your call of rivalry and be as baiguni as you can- be the number one"! |

Chicago dhukurZ plays Chicago Nomads at Fosters Beach (south of parking lot) this Sunday (5/11/03) at 4:30 p.m. Come support the dhukurZ, as we make final preparations for the coveted 22nd ANMA Soccer Tournament. Bring along your madals, muralis, loud horns and chant "KurZ&KurZ&Go dhukurZ." Really it was not an uplifting experience last Sunday when there were 50 Tibetans chanting Go Nomads and we had two lone supporters. Also the dhukurZ would appreciate and devour any Gatorade, power bar and such. |

Looks like there is great commentary going on for the AMNA footie tournie on Sajha. Anyway it is great to see that the tournie has been pretty well organized and that there are enough teams particiapating to make a tournie out of it. It would have definitely have been greater if more teams could have made it (KC, NE), but also the upcoming tournie to CO - it is understandable. Good luck to the teams and thanks in advance to the organizers. One word fo warning: Watch out for NUFC when they blow in to the Windy City - it might even be even windy than usual and the dhukurz may be left to roost.
