Don't you get the impression that the government is dragging its feet? If the king and the current gov, which is HIS gov, wants a lasting peace, then they should be more proactive instead of delaying the process. Gyanendra has demonstrated during the short time of his rule, that he is a very conniving politician who often surprises the public and his foes equally. If the tone does not change soon, I think the Moaists should change their strategy and pull out of the peace negotiations. I get the impression that the king is trying to buy time. Hoping that the longer Moaists fighters stay away from the battlefields, the less likely they will be willing to back to the fighting ways.
I hope the Maoists realize this and have safeguarded themselves against it. For, this is a historic moment. A moment to curtail the powers of the monarch so we can have a true democracy, where political leaders don't have to kiss the king's ass, or feel like they have to.
