Hi all,
Some of the people I have mentioned on Sajha in the past -- Salil Subedi and Saroj
Aryal -- taking part in this production. If you are in Kathmandu or will be in Kathmandu, this "babu raja" natak is not to be missed.
On another note, Sunil Pokharel's threatre group -- named Gurukul -- will put on Ibsen's "A Doll's House" (in Nepali) in May.

Studio 7 , Kathmandu's International Theatre Ensemble, producing Drama
Productions in the Valley since more than 20 years, announces this
year's production :
"Babu Raja"
adapted from a French play called "Lapin Lapin" by Coline Serreau.
A tragic comedy or comic tragedy that hits the nerve of our times ;
it mirrors with outstanding humor Everyday Life, in a world that slowly
turns upside down right in front of our eyes.
In the beginning all seems well in the family and in the country, but
the harmony is temporary, very temporary.
When everything is hopelessly messed up, Babu Raja, the
family's youngest son, whose love and innocence, but most of all whose link to
the spiritual world saves the family and the country from impending
disaster, of course not without the help of a little magic, love and laughter.
For Studio 7 the play is an appeal to the universal soul dwelling in
the heart of all beings, in a material world where chaos is always
immanent.

If you get a chance Ashu please post how you found the play. It is heartening to see Art Scene in Kathmandu thriving despite all the ills that I hear about.

Many of my good friends in Kathmandu are artists, writers, musicians, journalists and
so forth. So, even though I am NOT an artist, I am usually in the know about what's happening here and so on . . . and, in the interest of sharing news, I post relevant information on Sajha.
Tetti ho, yaar.
After working hard and late (hard to believe, but true!), the arts (broadly defined) refresh me. :-)
