Mr. Santosh Singh, 42, Educational Advisor, at the United States Education Foundation (USEF-Gyaneswor) pased away last Monday in Kathmandu. He accidentally suffered a massive electrical shock at his residence in the morning, and died later that afternoon at Norvic Hospital.

During his ten-year tenure at USEF, Mr. Singh assisted thousands of Nepali students to pursue undergraduate and graduate studies in the United States. He was a friendly, jovial man who loved playing classical guitar.

May his soul rest in peace; and may God give strength to his wife and two sons to bear the brunt of this untimely loss.

In friendship,

Santosh had many, many friends.

Here's an extract of an email from a mutual friend. This sums up what his friends thought of him.

"Do you know that he passed away last Monday by electrocution by accident? He was heating water by rod and accidently he was electrocuted!

There were over 200 peopel in the church. Heleft so many friends grieving! During my work at USEF, I found him very helpful, friendly and extremely nice person. He had invited me for lunch long time ago, all the time I thought next week, next week. Whenever we met, he eagerly shared all his stories - both official and personal - with me. He has been such a wonderful person, it is hard to believe that he is no more with us.

....tell me why do such a wonderful people die so earlier???"

Oh Santosh dai/sir passed away re?

Well though I do not know him that personally. I got to know him a little when he used to teach guitar to my friends and used to go with them. He used to live in Purano Baneswor then. Was a real help at the USEF, Thamel. Was an excellent guitar player.

Oh we dont know why it happens. Its all in His plan.

Pray that God will comfort his family and those who are directly affected by this loss.

By His Grace,
Montou

I was really shocked to hear the news about Santosh sir.
I just met him last year, and he took me to some new recording studios, and we were planning to jam, and I was planning to have him on my next album.
I have known him for many years since I was in grade 3 or 4--since Gyanodaya days where he used to teach. He was my science tutor as well.
He was such a great guy and like a brother to me. He used to ask about my late brother everytime, and now he had to go himself.
I still know one piece from Bach that he showed me in guitar.
Mr Santosh Singh( one of the great classical guitarist of Nepal) will be greatly missed, and wherever he is; he is in good hands and comfort to bhauju, and two kids.

It is really a shock to hear about the untimely demise of Mr. Santosh Singh. Though I don't know him personally, I had met him about two and half years ago in USEF, Gynaswore and got some advice from him. I was quite impressed by his helpfulness. I was referred to him by the international coordinator of one of the American colleges, since I was in need of some advise on educational and visa matters. He was amicable and enthusiastic to help me.
I express condolence to his family.

My condolences to the bereaved family and prayers for the departed soul.

My respects to his friends here who grieve the untimely loss of a friend/mentor.

I recollect instances where we discussed music and played some too. I met him some years ago and had a very cordial chat then, and it now turns out to have been the final occasion I was to have met him. I mourn his passing.

I dont know Mr Santosh Singh but I am really sorry about what happened to him. but I am surpriced to hear that water heating rod could be so dangerous because as a young kid I have dipped my finger into the water bucket with rod in it lots of times...oooh I should say I am lucky.

I didn't know Santosh ji but I pray for his departed soul.

Very sad and shocking news.
The only way to get comfort is to know that death is inevitable; he just left early.
Your good deeds will always be remembered. You have gone where you came from. You have again become the part of the ultimate reality. Only in different form. You will always exist in the hearts and minds of people whose lives you changed in a positive way.

I agree.......he was perhaps one of the most helpful persons i have met and who gave HONEST TIPS about going to US.

Almost three years ago, during our hunt for colleges in USEF, I remember him actually approaching us and inquiring the needs of the students and the confusion we are in and noting it down. That tiny incident gave me a greatness of this person, who was genuinely into helping students.

My heartfelt condolence to him and his family!

time will ease the pain,

Something beautiful remains!
