NTV just aired a wonderful interview of the American Ambassador to Nepal, H.E. Micheal E. Malinowski. The questions asked to him by Nepal's "prominent" journalist, Vijay Kumar were terrible for the most part, His Excellency's answers were to the point, honest and a reflection of the US Policies and interests in Nepal. Some main points of the interview: The US has no strategic interests in Nepal. Period. The US, through its international aid agency (USAID) will keep on supporting Nepal's economic and social development. Nepal, at this point of time needs the sincere efforts of all the law-abiding focres--constituional monarrchy, political parties and civil society--to bring about development and reforms in the social and political front. The US Governmnet did not include the Maoists on it's terrorit organizations' list. The Maoists, through their "violent" actions included themselves on the list and it is up to them to get off the list or to get promoted to the "big" list. The US Governmnet condems the acts of the Maoists in the strongest posible words. The US is a friend of Nepal and it will keep on assisting in Nepal's military, social and economic development. The US has "it's" interests in Nepal and thoise interests are: to see a prosperos and peaceful Nepal. to prevent Nepal fom being a safe haven for the Al-Quaeda and other terrorist groups and its members for the safety of the US in particular and the world in general. The US wants the peace process to be a success. I think his answers were brilliant. What do other sajha basis in Nepal who watched the interview think?

I missed the interview. However, looking at the above points, I think our "prominent" journalist Vijay Kumar has failed to ask His Excellency about the reported US interference in Nepali politics in the recent days. Newspapers had reported that the US Ambassador had requested our Kangressi netas to withdraw their support from the movement against King citing that the Leftists would gain from that movement. Did the Ambassador made any comments on the issue? Isolated Freak, plz do comment. Thanks for the great summary.

Yes, hr did comment on that. He said, the newspapers here "quote" even the things that he did not say and that's probably the reason why the Nepalis think "what are these[americans] doing in our country" and that is all natural.
