I agree with you.

Taranath Ranabhat, the Speaker of the House and one of the
two members of the Probe Committee -- given his supposed
stature -- behaved in a way that caused others much
embarrassment at the press conference.

Ranabhat appeared to have no sense of gravity and no sense of
appropriate demeanor. Apparently, the idea of 'fifteen minutes
of global fame' seemed to have gone to his head, making him
behave with all the giddiness of a young school-girl who's
just been given a signed autograph by her favorite male
movie-star.

In today's (Friday's) Kantipur daily, veteran reporter Narayan Wagle has written an excellent piece that expresses both critical bewilderment at Taranath's behaviours and conveys a sense of disappointment.

Sure, the ABSOLUTE TRUTH may never be known in all its
entirety. Only Devyani Rana can tell us what she and
Dipendra really talked about during all those calls
on that fateful night.

(My own strong but informal suspicion: She either wanted to
break up with Dipendra or had already by then broken up with
him -- causing him, either way, deep anguish laced with
rage.)

Meantime, I, for one, am satisfied with this, what I
call, 'good enough truth' -- as it has come out in
the Probe Report -- for now.

Strange, bizarre and unexpected things do happen, and
that's life.

Should have been: "signed photograph" above
instead of "signed autograph".

At lunch today, one of my colleagues, also disgusted by Taranath Ranabhat's gun-toting performance yesterday, came up with a
new name for Mr. Ranabhat.

New name: Mr. Taranath Ranabhatatatatatata
