KOL Report

KATHMANDU, May 9 - Manisha Koirala, one of the famous Indian actresses is preparing to join the Indian politics.

Indian papers reported the possibility of Koiralas coming into Indian politics in the near future as a potential candidate for upcoming State Assembly election representing Bharitiya Janata Party (BJP).

The BJP leaders in India have also testified Manisas possibility of joining the Indian politics.

Manisha is a granddaughter of founder leader of Nepali Congress (NC) B.P. Koirala and the daughter of Prakash Koirala, the present central member of NC. (hbt/bg)

Isn't she a Nepali????
How can a Nepali run for election in India???

I guess she will have to get married with some Gandhi's before she becomes Sonia..
Padme Posted on 09-May-03 01:20 PM

If Manisha is planning to be in Indian politics she is definately NOT Nepali.

Khimu good luck. I will support you.
Sadabichar Posted on 09-May-03 09:11 PM

If Manisha is really running in Indian Politics, then think about it:

She might not be daughter of Prakash Koirala, Only Manisha's Mom knows who is the true father.

Or, let's do DNA tests to settle the matter!!!!!!
acharya Posted on 10-May-03 03:16 AM

>>Only Manisha's Mom knows who is the true father.

Wtf!!
tick Posted on 10-May-03 07:56 AM

It is of little importance who the father is, if not the real one. If Manisha is an Indian citizen that does not make her a Nepali. Manisha can be spokes-person for Nepal if she does not promote the interest of the corrupted Neapli leaders from her own family. I hope she will be better than the Koiralas that keep their personal interest above the interest of the nation.
nirmala Posted on 10-May-03 10:19 AM

I really don't think being Nepali by origin necessarily makes you a Nepali. Same goes for Koirala pariwar, who actually were raised in India singing "janagna managana". What do you expect Manisha to do... join Nepali politics? I think it is better that she joins Indian politics. It will save one more useless individual polluting already rotten Nepali politics.
tick Posted on 10-May-03 10:39 AM

Nirmala jyu,
You are right, Koirala pariwar are more loyal to India.

It is not only about politics it is about national integrity and national interest. As you have said Nepali politics is rotten, I want to add politics is always rotten be it Nepal, India or anywhere else.

If Manisha is a Indian citizen and wants to be a politician there is nothing wrong with that; that only makes her a non-nepali. I am not saying that this is either good and/or bad for Nepal.
sparsha Posted on 10-May-03 11:59 AM

What is the big deal here?

Ke Manisha le Nepalko matrai politics ma aaune bhanne thekka leko chha? What does it matter who her father is? Talking about DNA is a disgusting approach to look at the matter, to me.

Let her be who she is and who she wants to be. Let's respect her personal decision. How many of us are dying to get US residency? How many of us are already US citizens? How many of us are dreaming to be a US citizen? How many of us are out of status, doing nothing really and still stuck here? Are we all traitors?

Nepali heart, not a piece of paper, defines who is a Nepali and who is not. I personally wish success to Manisha if she runs for an election in India. I won't be disappointed to see her as an MLA, MP, minister or any other responsible elected public figure. Let's see how many of us can be elected in India as a public figure even if we want to? Her accomplishments should be honored. We can be defensive if she starts attacking Nepal and Nepali feelings; otherwise let's respect her decision.

Let's look at first and see how honest we are to our words.

acharya Posted on 10-May-03 01:04 PM

good one, sparsha!

Yes! She is cool. I think if she really running for PM she will make it. She did work very good in film industry and she learn many good things from her filmy careers. And Nepalis and indian friendship going to be more strong i hope hai!
