Yuvaraj Paras, according to yesterday's Bimarsha, is going to be holed up in Narayanhiti palace from now on, because the royal palace wanted to take him away from "Mundre" and "Jagalte". While the king and his myrmidons were yelling at elected political leaders and lecturing them on how to behave properly, it appears that the prince was engaged in 'ashovaniya' jobs in Everest and Soaltee.

One of the hobbies of the prince seems to be to 'take care of' crocodiles. Fortunately, [or unfortunately if you are a swimmer in Rapti], crocodiles are numerous in the rivers of Chitwan. When they are above the land, crocodiles are very peaceful animals. When they are basking in the heat, they won't even react to provocation. Most of the times I have seen them, they appear to be basking in the sunlight, closing their eyes as if they have just fallen in love, and don't want to think about anything else but love. They shed their legendary tears, and do not appear hostile. But the amphibians' conduct inside the water is a far cry from the perception they emit when they are in land. Basically, crocodiles are the kind of animals who wait until it is their time and place to rule. When they have their upper hand, they rule ruthlessly.A man thrown in the water in front of the crocodile can't avoid the fight even if it is not provoking it. Inside the water, where they are powerful, there is no peaceful coexistence with crocodiles.

[Note: They are some species of crocodiles which may act differently.]

Just before the rise of Janga Bahadur, 675 prominent citizens of Kathmandu lined up in front of royal palace and handed down a memorandum protesting the excesses of the then prince Surendra. They said that the prince's acts were not conforming to his status as the head-of-state-in-waiting. Needless to say, king Rajendra, probably worse king than Surendra would later be, did nothing. Alot of those signatories were later massacred in Kot by Janga Bdr, and a whole new era began, which harmed people of Nepal irreparably.

Even then our ancestors had guts. They had capability to defend themselves, and express themselves. They didn't disappoint us even in their failure to yield result.

A Judiciary probe is just released, and I hope those who looted national coffer will be brought to justice. I support whoever does that. This report, however, would be more complete if it included the report about the property of the late king Birendra.I also fail to see why a head of state of small impoverised country like Nepal needs substantially more salary than his counterparts in India and China. Shouldn't it be considered a forceful loot?

I am glad that the civil movement directly aimed against the root cause of Nepal's problem, i.e. Monarchy, has begun. I hope it will yield some fruitful results. I believe it will. We can't wait until calamity hits us hard.
