Ex-Minister punishes himself after admitting sins nepalnews.com am May 18 At a time when the CIAA is chasing politicians for their alleged abuse of power and financial misappropriation, former minister Hari Prasad Pande made a surprise announcement Saturday in Pokhara and said he had decided to be his own judge and punish himself after the authorities did not heed his admonition of financial irregularities. Pande who was state minister for water resources during the CPN (UML) rule had hit the headlines a little more than a year back after he made a public confession that he had misused his power to amass illegal wealth and gain false praise from the society. Pande said at a press conference in Pokhara Saturday that he had decided to remain in house arrest for three years under his own discretion as punishment for his wrong doings while in power.

We can't ask more from this ex-minister. This is the most appropriate time he could think of in punishing himself.

Amusing and sad. I am talking about our society. The culture of corruption is so engraved in our collective phyche, we even do not now how to react to such an act of self-served *justice*

Shit, Only if all our leaders decided to punish themselves for abuse of power and position conducted anytime over the past 12 years' period...........................if not anything else, our towns should be free of any strikes and protests for atleast the next three years.......... Kathmandu can be the Sangri-la its supposed to be............. Shady............
