From Brave to Bold Okay, I didnt have chance to experience the 2017 coupe by Panchayat system, but sure was enjoying the pamphlets scattered in the streets and schools during 1990 Jana-andolan. By the time Maoist Insurgence was pronounced, I had already left the country and am glad, was never part of any political movement. But I have seen & heard the bullet rounds going always at an angle above knees, have seen laathi charge in a modern ballet with the so called krantikaaris. They faught hard, they faught brave; they got beaten, they got raped. And again, we are back to square one. But now at least there is one change I have noticed. Nepalese are less naïve & more prudent now. No, this is not the result of the governments endeavor on raising the literacy rate above 55%. We learned by experience. Now, only the Netas and the lobbyists plus few hundreds who are still lost, are seen protesting. Now, we dont give a you-know-what. You ask, why did Nepali people keep quite on the Kings assassination? How can an accused killer mastermind be the next future King? Why are all of these leaders, who are waiting for a love mail from CIAA, still, governing us? Well, my friend, cause we really dont care. You very well know what happened after the Jana-andolan. Ask Maha, they will tell you the andolan wasnt for people but for leaders. They had to order new stamps after Panchayat was changed to Bahudal, & may be few more letterheads. That is about it. We just saw the new force rising, the Maoists who are for People, by People & thus Kill People. Besides their movements are so much organized that when the party leaders call for a cease-fire, the sub-ordinates call for massive abductions. What communication system are they using? Verizon? Can you hear me now? Its not that we are no more interested in politics, it actually is fun to watch Netas suing CIAA and pointing fingers and finally getting arrested. It is fun to witness leaders under their own house arrest (he now thinks he is a ministry of Judiciary & Legislatation). If we had a political channel, called Pee-TV, it would top the Nielson Ratings in most watch reality TV. But let the fun limit itself on that periphery, we dont want to be a part of it anymore. Were now more clever than you think. We used to be brave Nepalese, now we are clever too. With each flip of the monetary notes (bribes?), you were peeling our layer or conscience. We are in a period of rest now, call us when there is an uprising of an intelligent leader, who is not only honest but knows how to lead too.
