I was under impression that only citizen can bring their family here. Someone told me if you have are a permanent resident, you can sponsor your parents / siblings. I would be very grateful if anyone share their experince with this.

thank you

You could sponsor your parents and siblings with GC in hand.

But, the catch is there is long waiting time. Your parents can get their GC in 5 years or more if you are a GC holder but, for citizen's parent it is current. So, basically if you just got your GC and are intending to be a citizen then it is rougly similar time frame. It becomes your choice when you wan to apply.

But, you may not like to be citizen then it makes sense to apply immidiately after you get GC.

For sigblings the wait time is around 10 and 15 years (for Citizen and GC holder respectively), and that also comes out to be same. Your parents will take 5 years to be citizen and they can sponsor the adult kids (that is 5 + 5 = 10 years).

Don't get too concerned with these 5/10/15 years. Time will pass very fast? Remember the first day you landed in US? Alerady 7 years right?

This is very crude estimate. You should go to www.ins.gov website for complete information and most of the information is very clear. There are many other helpful websites.

BTW: you don't need to hire any lawyers to apply. The application process is very easy, just follow the instructions. Again, the information is all in the websites.
