I agree With Ashu. Its all about getting expose to different worlds.Which happens best when you step outside of Nepal and even from India.I would wonder why outside educated father didn't sent his sons, including Nirajan,or even persuaded Paras, to Uk or USA, where the best schools are.I don't think Gov. paying their tution is much of the problem. To me Royal staffs,Shrestha and Thapa, seems much more smarter than the Royals themselves,Who send theirs to the bests. I also agree with some others on educating at top schools does not mean person is smart-- on one level. But going to top schools means getting access to lot more opportunities and you meet people,NOT peoples, smarter than you with whom you can agree / disagree in lot friendlier manner than with others. You get better exposed to Art,get to go top museums, get to listen lectures from top scholars,Music from top composer, access to ,magnum opus, libraries, get to see and participate in in top plays Shakespeare to Howard Zinn, and get the teste of the world. so that you begin appreciate these things more when turn comes. Like late king Birendra had access to, while he was at Harvard, World class museums like--Fogg, peabody, MFA, Boston Symphony Orchestra,Country's second largest Widener Library and Cambridge where you get to see world and many more things. Point is he had access to these things only because he came to Cambridge,MA.Which for Nepali is a great exposer--For promoting Art,drama,Museums, libraries,Artist, cultral activities, writers amnd much more.Which Direndra and his brothers would have gotten. There certain things which you can get only in certain places. This is one of them. I don't mean TOP schools means only Ives,Oxford,Cambridge...But top Law,Arts,Science, computer and other Schools.Where you get to learn from the best of best and built up your network. And YES it all depends on person himself or herself. How he/she takes advantage of these opportunities and utilies it. Going back to Dependra Since he was interested in Geography ,if he or his parent wanted he could have had gone to the best resource available.Since he was more preveileged Nepali than other Nepalis and prospect to the throne.Who one day would be leading 22 million Nepalis. TU may have the great geography department, which I never heard of,But will he get as much as exposer as in Duke,Oxford,Harvard and other world top notch...Oh yeah now Some people might say his father was educated outside maybe he had bad experiences that's why he does not want to sent his son outside or maybe he can supervise his son better than others or may afraid of his son to be get kidnapped. But his father experiences may not equals his son's. Peace!
