The First Show of the Kathmandu Film Archives went very well this evening. Around 40 movie-lovers turned up to enjoy "Red Sorghum" on a big cinemacopic screen at the GAA Hall. The GAA provided tea to all afterward. Special thanks to Mehendra "Honda" Sakya, a past president of the GBNC, for all his support and personal dynamism; to Bhaskar Gautam and Sanjog Rupakheti (both of whom may well be future Boston Nepalis!) for all their tireless work in taking care of many details; Sudarson Karki for handling the technical details without a hitch; Biresh Shah, Pratyoush Onta, Shizu Upadhyay, Sujata Thapa, Bikas Rauniar, Samjhana Upreti and Anup Subedi for giving excellent advice so that the concepion of the Kathmandu Film Archives could travel from the phase of a mere idea to the phase of a flawless execution. Next show: Friday evening; October 20,2000 at the GAA Hall. oohi ashu
