Can someone tell me why some Nepali people detest Pakistani people esp. the men? I don't know many of them but i do have one friend who's nice, which doesn't mean anything but still. They're called towelheads and other derogatory terms. Is it the fact that they're muslim and their beleifs? someone englighten me |

BMW I studied at Lahore, Pakistan and I do have personal experiences, both good and bad, about the Pakistanis. After they ask your name. the second question is eithir "Are you Muslim?" OR "What is your religiion?" "La ye il allah, mohamod rasul ul-allah X 3" Many of the classmates made me repeat this line, (yet I did not memorize) and thought I got converted into a Muslim. Couple of friends had nude pictures in their rooms to keep the preachers away. Usually I lied about my religion. Officially I am supposed to be Hindu, though aethist. I told them that I was a Buddhist to reduce the lenght of discussion or to avoid getting preached. Lots of freinds of mine knew who I was and we drank togather, yes alcohol, I could not lie because my last name sounded so much like an Indian name (some of the Pakistanis were really stupid and knew nothing about "other religion" yet they proudly claim their religion is the best). They denied any kind pressure from their "mullas", not to support me or be freind with me because I was a "kafir". "Insha allah" (God Willing) Usually when they say this, the thing will probably not be get done. Many of the Pakistanis were big time liars. There were friends of mine, who understood me and did not have to ask a single thing. I was helped in many ways that I dont think I can repay them in any form. Rrickshaw wallas (tempo) , many of times, offered us free rides when they came to know, we were foreigners. It was their form of " Mehaman-nawazi". Many a times, unknown Pakistani Bhais have offered me 'chia" they were drinking. and "Dal roti" they were eating. Albeit. I was denied for distinction in one of the subjects at my final exam, for probably being a foreigner or kafir. Another Pakistani teacher fought for my cause and awarded me with record breaking marks. So BMW, there are good and bad and ugly people everywhere. You gotta watch or read Zadie Smiths "White Teeth". More later, Insha allah. |

Thanks Shirishji for sharing your experiences, I know my pak friend every once in a while bashes the hindustani people and brags how every pak-muslim are the most sucessful and the richest.. i just thought maybe it was pak pride, but he's not a hardcore muslim so the religion issue never comes up. i have met a lot of arabs that are a little cookooo on the head if you know what i meant.. Uh, looks like you haven't been exposed to Muslim zealots, hence this leniency that you display. I, along with my colleagues make fun of them all the time, to tell you the truth. Do you even know your history? You see, what happened circa 12th century ad was that Quran thumping Jihadists invaded Northern India, in order to convert Hindus, to the "only true religion", Islam. So basically speaking, they conquer the Indian subcontinent in the name of Allah, rape our women, pillage the land, steal valuable artifacts, destroy temples, as idol worship is a strict no-no according to the Quran, and enslave our people. It's not easy to exonerate people who commit all these aforementioned crimes. This religion is basically speaking Arabic imperialism. An Islamicized country is supposed to forget its past pagan history, a very effective "policy" to purge people's memories and brainwash them, as exemplified by the destruction of the statues in Bamyan in the hands of the Taliban. But it's a-ok for Arabs to preserve their heritage. Those ziggurats and other ancient architectures in the Middle East are in pretty much similar condition as they were dug. Oh, and you seem to forget that Hindus and Buddhists aren't treated the same as Jews or Christians in Middle Eastern countries. The latter two would be classified as people of the Book, but the former two wouldn't meet that criteria. Also, name me one Islamic country that's a democracy. There aren't any. Islam cannot exist along with democracy. One or the other is always wiped out. |

Shirishji's balanced view notwithstanding, it will be sad if this thread veer into becoming a venue for racist spewing of garbages against a community from South Asia. Let's judge people independenty, unless , of course, we are talking about how they celebrate their festival or what their history was etc. etc. I was a friend of a lot of Pakistanis in Shanghai and even in USA. The ratio of good and bad people from Pakistan was roughly proportionate to what that ratio would be of people from other countries. |

Proportionally speaking, it's well known that Muslims are more prone to commiting heinous terroristic crimes than people who follow other religions. |

Hm...I always thought muslim falls under religion & Pakistani falls under nationality???????? Being from pakistan, you can be of any religion, and have your own individual values and beliefs so that doesnot necessarily make you a muslim. Isn't it? Was I wrong all this time? |

Bhedo, there is a long list of people who have committed terrorism in the world in the last century. They all are criminals. If you try to think about proporition, may be it will be about same. Let's think about subjugation of Blacks, extermination of Jews, Post partition conflict in India-Pakistan,man-made famine in China and recently North Korea, abandoned killing in Cambodia, etc.etc. If you focus on the crimes committed only by Moslems, then it is another story. |

History repeats after a year. I hope many will know what i am talking about. This subjected was much in debate last summer. Forget this topic people. BMW, detest is a extreme word. People do not have so much of appreciative attitude for other people for many reason.May be because they don know the other party or they know too much about the other party. Well Nepali people don't detest Pakistini people. Some of us have good pakistani friends and some of us do not. May be those who have not so good pakistani friends do not like pakistani people. |

The very creation of this country was based on hatred, the people of this country are taught to hate everyone who is not musalman and they do hate all other religion specially Hindu religion. I don't have any good experience with any of the Pakis I have met in my 28 years. It not that I hate the religion of Islam (I have some very good Nepalese and Indian muslim friends) but I just cannot digest Pakistanis. Sabba Khair!! |

Biswo, about your list, many are things of the past, and the guilty people have paid for the crimes already. Let's not talk about epochs, as they are evanescent. It's totally different when it comes to Muslims though. They have been taking this path since their religion's inception. It's expected, as their so-called prophet was a war-monger himself, and Jihad is in every Muslim's tongue. |
