We got new rules in Nepal now. A CDO can now prevent a citizen from leaving the country. Primarily targetted to Maoists, this rule is open to misuse, as we all know. Our security rules will be so strict now, that we shall never be able again to protest if Paras is seen DUI and ramming the pedestrians in the sidewalk. ******************* Fight/war are the act of desperation. We knew that even in our highschools. Maoists were desperate to make a dent in national politics, so they went to the boonducks to fight against those who were staying in the 'comfort zones' of civilization. What desperation is propelling the govt for war against its own citizen? The govt isn't listening to court in its fight against Maoists, the released convicts are again arrested mercilessly, how can we trust it again with more and more draconian laws at its disposal? ********************** The Nepal police wasn't trained very well to cope with the situation like Maoists insurgency. The police went to villages and raped girls and plundered local properties until the Maoists became superior in power in those areas. The loss of public sympathy to police was triggered by the rude behavior of police force employed there. True force lies in public. It is time the govt starts winning public faith. The govt unfortunately doesn't have any clue how to win the public. They do what they think is the shortcut solution. Use the force. That's what some of our ministers do even in election. They neither have faith in public, nor are true democrats in heart. *********************** Btw, Pakistani army chief Parwez Musharraf is now the president. I guess presidential costume is considered a civilian robe there. It is sad to see Pakistan relapsing into the Jiya Ul Hak era. Jiya also became president a year after executing Bhutto, and ruled the country until he died in the plane crash.
