15 WAYS TO IDENTIFY A NEPALI "DUDE": 1. Wears a Swayambhu/Mt. Everest T-shirt. 2. Always sticks to Levis 501, unless he puts weight (which happens quite often). 3. Likes to feast on Momo parties. 4. Loves chinese dish - Dumpling (Momo) being the favorite followed by Lomein. 5. Looks a bit oriental, but speaks with an Indian accent. 6. Hates Indians, calls them "dhoti," but loves everything Indian from movies to paan-parag. 7. Develops a pot belly within 6 months of stay in America. 8.Works at McDonalds, but has an illusionary pride of an IT expert with Sun-Micro systems. 9. Big fan of college football, eventhough he knows nothing about the game. 10. Drives a BMW with McDonalds' salary. 11. Has a VIP membership with the neighboring Porno Video store. 12. Thinks American Beer isn't a beer at all; prefers Corona or Heineken. 13. Goes to a community college, thinks his college is better than Harvard/MIT. 14. He knows the easy way to graduate is to pay instate tuition (so marrys a ufly fat smelly white woman for green card). 15. Works a DJ (dish jockey), but he tells home that he is a mechanical engineer.

This is actually a funny thread, let me see how many of these items apply to me:) 15 WAYS TO IDENTIFY A NEPALI "DUDE": >> Yes, I am a Nepali dude. 1. Wears a Swayambhu/Mt. Everest T-shirt. >> I would like to own a Swayambhu/Mt. Everest T-shirt 2. Always sticks to Levis 501, unless he puts weight (which happens quite often). >> Not applicable 3. Likes to feast on Momo parties. >> So true 4. Loves chinese dish - Dumpling (Momo) being the favorite followed by Lomein. >> Not applicable 5. Looks a bit oriental, but speaks with an Indian accent. >> Not applicable 6. Hates Indians, calls them "dhoti," but loves everything Indian from movies to paan-parag. >> Not applicable 7. Develops a pot belly within 6 months of stay in America. >> Not applicable 8.Works at McDonalds, but has an illusionary pride of an IT expert with Sun-Micro systems. >> Not applicable 9. Big fan of college football, eventhough he knows nothing about the game. >> I think I know something about college football. Having had a football player as a college roommate, I better know something about it. 10. Drives a BMW with McDonalds' salary. >> Not applicable 11. Has a VIP membership with the neighboring Porno Video store. >> Never had a membership, but is open to this idea. 12. Thinks American Beer isn't a beer at all; prefers Corona or Heineken. >> Thinks a beer is a beer is a beer. (For mathematically inclined people, think about the notion of continuity) 13. Goes to a community college, thinks his college is better than Harvard/MIT. >> Not applicable 14. He knows the easy way to graduate is to pay instate tuition (so marrys a ufly fat smelly white woman for green card). >>Not applicable 15. Works a DJ (dish jockey), but he tells home that he is a mechanical engineer. >> Tells home that he is broke, implores to send him money.

To add more to caliguy1's list... 1. Works very hard to pay for the school. 2. Is concern about Nepal and old parents back home 3. Does well in school and gets a scholorship 4. Sends whatever little money he can to his parents 5. Dreams about returning to Nepal after his studies 6. He would rather hang out in Sajha on a holiday (doesn't cost money :-)) and the list goes one......

Ruck ko bichar ra mero bektigat pratikriya: 1. Works very hard to pay for the school. ((((((((((No, I didn't pay a penny till my graduation. Ma lazy no 1. )))))))))) 2. Is concern about Nepal and old parents back home (((((((((Yes concerned about Nepal. Tara parents nabhaye pachhi ta tetti nepal jaun jaun jasto nalagne rahechha....)))))))))) 3. Does well in school and gets a scholorship ((((((((((((N/A I got fellowship before joining to school.))))))))))))) 4. Sends whatever little money he can to his parents ((((((((((((Degree kamauna po ayeko, lahure banna ayeko hoina ni. Amerika ko dollar americai ma kharchha gare maile ta Ayo Ilam, khayo Silam Farkera janda Guntai Lilam Ayo Doti, khayo Roti Farkera janda Dhoti na Topi ....eheheeh)))))))))))) 5. Dreams about returning to Nepal after his studies ((((((((((((((Yes. Mero desh ra janta haru ko feri garne man chha. Current situation there is just not conducive.)))))))))))))))) 6. He would rather hang out in Sajha on a holiday (doesn't cost money :-)) ((((((((((((((Kaha holiday matrai, almost all day ni. No it cost money. Time is money.))))))))))))))) Those who come on their own to study in America, it is not so easy here. I realize that looking at other brothers and sisters here. I admire for their hardwork, patience, objectives, dreams, etc. I wish I could follow them. why can't the original poster of this thread can't just understand that.

Bhunte ji, I was not generalising though. Je bhaye pani, everybody is not fortunate enough to come to USA on fellowship/scholorship programs but there are those who come here on their own ( self study) yet they have done and are doing pretty well. Hoina ra???

Ruck, you are true and I never disagreed with you. But, the reply suits only to my personal reference (that's why i said 'bektigat') and may not represent even 1% of all Nepalis here.
