Has any one here ever or is planning to sit any of the USMLE exams??.. I am a fourth yr med student from NZL wanting to sit the part 1 of the exam at the end of this yr, but I dn't know if I will be well enough equipped with all the required clinical knowledge by that time.. I started my practical runs in hospital wards from this yr and will be doing major runs such as gen. medicine, surgery, pshychiatry, orthopaedics, anaesthetics and emergency.. I guess that covers most of the core topics for the exam... does any one here have any advice on how to and what to study in terms of non-clinical stuff eg. anatomy, physiology, histology... r there any txtbooks that are better than the others ?? Any help will be greatly appreciated.. Is any one here studying medicine overseas? How difficult/ challenging are you finding the course? What aspects. Thanks, SS |

SS, the best way would be to get advice from your university professors or check with the USMLE administrator. good luck bhunte |

Hey SS: I assume you are either at Otago or Aucland University. I did my first International 16 week rotation at Aukland University and was based at the Bay of Plenty area. My second visit to New Zealand and absolutely loved it there. While in New Zealand I was told that the US Embassy in Wellington and the US Consulates in Auckland and Christchurch have more detailed information for New Zealanders and residents of New Zealand. Good luck fren from Longwood Avenue |
