IT is still hot and will be hot.
but the level of heat depends on where you are.
if you are in INDIA, china, philippines, singapore then definitely you have better prospect of landing a higher paying jobs. some of my collegues who returned to Banglore after being laid off are landing into job paying IC 120,000/month which is almost like US $ 2500. i am sure they are better off in banglore than in US.
in US the way i have seen in last 5 years, it all depends on which sector you are in. if you are in the telecommunication then tough luck. but other industries had been preety stable and job has been good. lot of tech companies in US are outsourcing jobs due to lower operating costs abroad. So basically, its cooler in US but hotter everywhere else... especially india, philippines.
