***** I lied down in gundree for a while. "khane bittikai ta jyan gaye ni nauhana sakdina" i said to myself. Sabin made his way to the chaut scrubbing his wet hair humming "thanda thanda paani.." My mom made her way again "sabin, nahai sakeu, yo oyss lai ta katti bhannu parne ho nuhauna ni" "hyaa mula oyss.nuhuana ja na ta!" I got even madder. parkhi ta moro sabine lai..janya chu I thought. I totally ignored him and went to a light sleep. The constant nagging, mugging, scolding began to take toll on me. I finally gave in. Mixing one dekchi of boiling hot water and one baata of icy cold water, I made a maun-tato compound to soothe myself. Swearing on myself, swearing on sabine, Swearing on the useless solar heater, swearing on all the handigaonles that got up early Saturday and took a bath, I finished half an hour shivering ordeal. I went outside and leaned by the bardali railings and went to my routine daydreaming in the warm winter sun. I suddenly thought about the dream i had that morning. "sapna ma ni jange le tarsayo" I thought. I had been reading "rana haroo ko tathya britanta" a 900 page epic for almost three weeks then. I tried to do some sword fight moves in my dream. I thought i could get him later tonite...."yesso ghumayera... "oyssssss! k cha! deusai sapna dekhna lagya..." I blushed as I saw the trio of sneha aunty, shivani and her mom make their way towards our house. I quickly gave a reverend posture and gave a cosy namaste from upstairs. "bhare! fucchu ko b'day cha..sabbai jana khana khani gari aauni la......" i nodded my head. My eyes raced to see Shivani who was hiding behind the sari of her mom. They made their way in. I raced towards the far corner of the bardali hoping to get a glimpse of shivani. Her mom and sneha aunty went in. She took time taking her sandals off[maybe it was deliberate]. She did look like goddess in her dark navy blue kurta surwal. She quickly stole a peek at me and gave me that magical smile. In doing so, she exposed her heavenly dimples I had dreamt of. I was ecstatic. Taking a shower seemed so much trivial. I would get very close to those dimples that nite--i mean, very very close. PS..aja ali masu bhat sick bhayen k. ali laamo bhayecha!

[Armour gleamed in the sunshine. JangaBahadur had a cold blooded look in his eyes. I was scared, but relentless. Our swords met in a wild frenzy, and before long I snapped; he came in for the kill.] I woke up with strange hysteria. I must have perspired. The constant jingling of the bangles stirred me. I turned around. It was merely 6 30. My mom was busy sorting my clothes and cleaning the room. "hyaa mami chad dinu na" "k chad dinu! sabbai fohor luga cha. yo hanger ma rakheko fohor ki safa" "safa ho" I answered in my drowsiness. She sniffed my clothes "huncha safa! keta, kasto swasni chai bhetlas taile. " I giggled at the idea. "la aaba chado uth. paani hudai nuhai haal" "sadhe cha nai baje nuhauni?" I went beserk. Why was everyone after bathing on a early cold saturday morning? but it was a strange tradition that had not been broken for years.I pulled up the blanket and disappeared into the darkness and the warmth underneath hoping for better dreams ********* The sweet aroma of mechi special aroused me. "la baabu, sadhe saat bhai sakyo. daddy tarkari lina gai saksyo" " ma k garu ta?" i answered back sipping the sweet tea that had landed by my bed. "hoina! tero po kaam chaina. Uthera nauhauna gaide sablai sajilo huncha ni." "la la janchu! i retorted back. "sutya chaina kya, ek chin paltya po" She gave me a puzzled look and went around doing her astronomical chores of saturday. I relaxed back and closed my eyes. Handigaon had woken up. Laughter and discussions filled the air. Ram Krishna baje, next door put on his usual morning bhajan of "hari sharanam" while the kids on the yellow house were already starting with their drums. Panku dai must be in shower for i could hear his usual spurts of "hara hara mahadev". I could even make out kubre's voice from his chaut "kasto chiso paani hai, ekkai saas ma nahai maile ta" Santa bajai was nursing her new borne naati "ghaam didi aau, badaal didi jaau." Yes, everyone had their hands full either with bathing or washing. I wondered if it had always been like this in ktm or was it only after the water shortage. It didn't matter to me. I gave myself the final ultimatum of ten minutes. I wanted to think of something exciting---[ohhh fucche ko aaja b'day. We are all invited. I perked up. Shivani might come too.... ********* She should come.... "baabu! ajhai suti rachas...chado uthera nuhauna ja na herr...pheri paani siddincha" my eldest sister managed everything in one breath. She had this obsession with water that we had named her the water minister of the house. I had to play my part carefully now. "la la" i succumbed quietly, pretended to wake up in bed, giving out fake yawns and rubbed my eyes. The acting was satisfactory; she bought it. [ooo....."kasto garmi! nirulaas ma icecream khana jana paye po" she had said last summer. I had watched her closely then". It was winter now, but i wanted to go to Nirulas. I wanted to sit by Shivani and watch her happily munch on mango tango . I dreamt of her coming in that sleek black kurtha surwal with white sawl. She looked like a goddess. uggh! why does she resort to those baggy pants and bizzarre skirts sometimes....] "Gojyangre ajhai suti racha" my heart pounded as I heard my dad's voice rise nextdoor. "kasto bhayera gayo yo keto...uta tarkari line thau ma Raju ni athyo. kasto smart. namaste uncle bhanyo. afai kinmel garera farkyo" "pant baje ka santan ta atti smart chan ni" my mom joined in to inflict my wound. "padera matrai k garnu, byabhar garna sake po yo keto le." I took the pillow and wrapped it around my head so that i didn't have to hear anything. Everything was getting louder ********* [....She smiled exposing her dimples. The rare natural phenomenon I had witnessed often that Dashain. she even slapped me in frivolity for losing all the money in cards, and later apologized to me...wow! that was really cute. I thought..] "Oysss uth ta chado" my younger sister joined in now. She was combing her wet hair taking a careful scrutiny of my room. "nahuana ja na! katti dukha dinchas" I got mad. even my little sister was picking on me now. "aaudina! la k garches?" i retorted clenching my teeth. "naaye naaija ta". she sprinkled water from her hair on my face and ran off. In my mad rage, I took the pillow and hurled it towards the door narrowly missing her. She giggled and made her way upstairs. I laughed at my own rage. Yes it was time to rise and shine. I brushed up and tried to comb down my "porcupine hair" hyatt..i thought. It wouldn't level down. I slowly made my way upstairs towards the kitchen. The aroma of masu, kauli and achar watered my mouth like pavlov's dogs. I swallowed hard. My mom gave me a brief look and continued on the silauta. "talai man parne golveda ra dhaniya ko achar banako chu. chado nuhayera aaija ta" "hass hass! oiee makuri" i saw my sister burning some meat right at the stove "euta chakhum na" "ees dinchu, aghi k bhanya thees" she got me back. I slowly made my way to the bathroom and turned on the knob for hot water. I waited for a while. A frigid cold water trickled down. I got enraged once more. "maami! ek thopa ni tato paani chaina..k khana solar rakhya hola.....kaile tato pani aaye po" my mom laughed. "sodh na terai bau lai" she summoned me to heat water in a dekchi and i did that in silent rage. "babu! bhuteko masu ra cheura khanchas ta" "khadina!" i was still thinking of the cold shower that awaited me. "khali nauhauni nuhauni nuhauni" i jharkoed. i took a deep breath. "boru masu bhat nai khanchu" My mom is not the best cook in this world, but there's something magical about masu bhat she makes every saturday. It has that homely aroma that I have yet to experience elsewhere in the world.

Oys, Your works are eclectic. In the earlier month, you presented us with a story that showed your penchant for getting into trouble, where some of us could totally relate to. Now you present us with a illustrious story that makes us go back to our own memory lane that we idealize and romaticize. Bravo kid:) best wishes, yatri

Handiman from Handigaon Hey girls, gather round, listen to what I'm putting down. Hey babe, I'm your handi man. I'm not the kind to use a pencil or rule, I'm handi with love and I'm no fool, I fix broken hearts, I know that I truly can. If your broken heart should need repair, then I'm the man to see. I whisper sweet things, you tell all your friends, they'll come running to me. Here is the main thing I want to say, I'm busy 24 hours a day. I fix broken hearts, I know that I truly can. Comma, comma, comma, com, com, yeah, yeah, yeah. Comma, comma, comma, com, com, yeah, yeah, yeah, they'll come running to me.

Oys_Chill, very nice. I comprehensively finished reading. Your reminiscing ability past compare. You remember every bit of your history, which has already blown in the wind. As always, when I read your memory lane, I tend to put myself on your "I" character and ride on it. Kaha bata, mechi special chiya ko kura nikalyo.. Hmmm aroma of mechi chiya always dwells on my *fourth sense*. Ani, your crush (puppy crush) reminded me of my own past, when I fell in love with a girl long ago, almost one-sided. Ehehe!!
