A lot of hues and cries has been raised this year in Golf regarding Annika Sorentam's entry to the PGA. Lot of people have raised their eye brows and commented on her entry. Pros like Vijay Singh and Nick Price unleashed bad blows to her whereas others including Tiger and Ernie remained positive and gave her all the credit she deserved. However now that she played a good first round of Golf at the Collonial, she showed that she is one of the best women golfer around and possess both the mental and physical strength to overhaul some of the finest of male golfers. Now the attention of the public comes to the second major of the year, the US Open at Olympia Fields near Chicago. Though Woods hasn't performed as good as people expected this year and has not led the money list upto now, he remains clear favourities to lift the trophy for the third time in a row. The recuperating Tiger won the US Open last year when it was played at the public course at Bethpage Black, NewYork. The course this year at Olympial Fields has great short par fours. I think that short par fours are the way that new courses should be designed; that's the way to catch out the pros, not by adding length. Look at the 11th and 16th at Wentworth. They force an accurate tee shot, certainly with an iron down the 16th, and then play a controlled short iron into an undulating green. Tiger is back but so is Ernie Els and Irelands Padraig Harrington and the rest of the fields. They no longer play catch up to Tiger like they did last year or a year before. The competition has heated up during Tiger's injury at the end of last year and they, the European Golfers will be roaring to go at the Open. The Europeans are a bit shaky in the American greens and fairways thats why PGA haven't had too many European winners at the US Open. My vote is out for Tiger again. Lets see if we have another Mike Weir to beat him at the Augusta National like this year. The Open starts tomorrow morning. |

Against all odds I go for the lefty Phil Mickelson. Too many 2nd and 3rd finishes in the Majors. He will come as a victor this time. |
