watup ppl.
i was wonderin if u ppl could help me out hea. i'm havin quite a tough time(or rather no idea at all!!) trying to find da rite topic fo ma "persuasion" speech which is due in a weeks time..i had initially thought of doin "why ppl should quit smokin" ...i decided no to do so..coz i cant convince maself to quit smokin, so how da hell could i convince a class full of ppl who smokes not to rite !!! so i kinda decided to do dat on ma "informational/how to.." speech. i changed it to "how to quit smokin.."(i'mma jus gonna tell dem how n not y..hehe) so all ya ppl please could ya help me. will highly appreciate it..i'll give credit to ya....ayte.

Hola again Ziggy_l :-),
Prepare ur speech on something that you are interested in or would like to more 'bout!...it will sound more persuasive!
Depends who ur audience are going to be...freshman or Seniors?
Some of the topics could be following!
1) Premarital sex. Why they shouldn't have it? What is it worth?
2) Persuade them not to do binge drinking.
3) Why should the students start keeping their eyes on employment and employers...& start preparing for the job search step by step since their freshman or whateverrr yr. they are in!
4) Advantages of study groups & how much & what the students gain when they have one before exam.
5) Persuade them to voice their opinion for themselves or someone else in need! (eg. Iraq war or any other global issues!) Why should they do it!
List goes on & on!
I hope u will not be persuading them to sip barcadi under the sun ;-)! I hope, I was of some help. If you need more, Holler! Bye & Good Luck!

GI sista...thank you very much for that. Well the class is a mixture of all(freshman-senior), but most of them are international students(infact 90%). Some of the topics are interesting like the Premarital Sex, Bing Drinking and the Employment one. But I am not sure if I can find enough sources and evedince on the student employment one. But I definitly will do some looking up. Once again Thank You. And yes I would love to have more topics before I decide.

U come come brother :-)! Uhm...u mentioned ur audience will be international students 90% so perhaps u could give a speech on:
1) Persaude/Encourage them to be good ambassadors of their country. Why? How is it advantagious for them, for their college mates and for their country and international wrold as a whole.
2) Should the students hang around w/ their frens from their country 24/7...why or why not?
3) Should they focus upon their studies to reach the destination they are here for or should they be sipping their life away...sipping barcadi under the sun ;-)? *Don't get saddo :-)*
4) Persuade them to be good managers of their time. Why?
5) Should they return back to their countries after they are done with their studies. Why and why not?
6) Encourage them to be a voice for their country and the developing coutries...
7) Persuade them to take part in other extracurricular activities in Uni to grow socially, psychologically, emotionally & intellectually! (Points: Improves leadership skills, gives u the ground to know other people and their opinions, Looks good on resume, + point, improves interpersonal/communication skills and confidence, gives u the ground to let others know about u as an individual and ur country...etc. etc.)
Am I confusing u by throwing more topics ur way? :-) Jus being nice :-)! I hope u get A+ :-)! Good Luck!

Thank You again. I think these topics are more relevant with the class I am in. But I am not sure if I can find the appropriate research materials for these topics since this is a "Persuasion Speech" I have to "persuade" the class to agree with me and I have to use those visual stuff to prove my points. And I don't know if I can come up with numbers and studies to prove that. Well thank you(yet again) for your time and those topics. I will see if I can get enough materials to support these various topics(infact I've already started..lol). And no you havent confused me at all.

I have come up w/ one more speech topic for you.
"Not driving when drunk!" You will have lots of research materials to support your case. You can even use a reaL life or fictional case to illustrate the consequences of driving when drunk.

yeh i was gonna say that too! DONT DRINK AND DRIVE! u can find a whole lotta info in this topic. I did one before and got a B+.....could have gotten an A+ but the stupid !@#$%^& teacher dont like me! (atleast thas my excuse) anyway that would be a good topic! btw when is ur paper due?

thanx you for the topic GI n One Gurl. yeah i think that's a good topic to do a speech on. ummm.. i'll have to think about it. how does this sound.. marijuana sould be legalized in the u.s of a. thats just a thought. i'm open to more suggestions though. OG my paper is due on monday. and about the grade thing, i say the same thing every time i don't get what i expected.

LOL! omg this guy in my English class had done that rite.....(and we were supposed to dress up to present our persuasive paper) well anyway this guy comes in class, actually lookin high(not juss lookin he actually was)dressed all thuggish like he always does(lookin good!)....and did his speech.....guess wat his grade was..........a D! lol well i think thas juss cuz he didnt have enuff info.......if u have info and can support it then go for it! why do u wan it legalized neway.....ne personal reasons? hehe ;)

I had presented on this topic, trust me... you can give your audience jitters by starting off with an abuse scenario and ending it with the persuasion!

no personal reasons....lol......n u know wat!!!! that topic was actually done before by someone for his persuasive speech.....n the prof was tellin us he kinda sucked.....lol.....dont tell me we'r in the same uni....hehehe....n i dont think i'm gonna do on that neways.

This may sound pretty basic, but how about persuading people to take care of their teeth. You could get some info on the cost of seeing a dentist, cost or tooth repair or replacement, long term effects of avoiding the dentist, how attractive natural teeth look, how white teeth present a good smile. Convince people to brush, floss, and avoid food that can harm the teeth, like chewing gum. Brink up the effects of bad breath on social life, getting and keeping a job. Ok, just some ideas. You have probably chosen a topic by now.

Child labour is a good one... but a sketchy one since it primarily exists in "developing countries" where children do bring in income vital for the family's survival. Child labour comes with bigger issues than just working children.

YB....how to drive while drunk has been done...but i dont know if i'm gonna convince a crowd not to dance drunk(or yur partner will slap u)...never been or seen a situation like this....n i'm not sure i can quote any one else other than u(assuming u were in a situation like this..). but thank you anyways. appreciate it.

PLEASE let us know what topic you chose and what the teacher and audience thought of your speech. Avoid topics of a controversial nature; sex, religion, politics should all be off limits to you. Your instructor may have strong feelings on some topics.
