Hi, I hold a F2 visa, and been in US for 4 years with fine status. I like to go to Nepal, and come back as my husband's studies is still in process. Is it still possible to get a re-entry visa from Canada or Mexico?? Pls drop your experience or suggestion... Thanks

Aatmasitaji, I am not sure about obtaining a re entry visa from Mexico and Canada but if you are applying for a visa in Kathmandu, you might want to take along , your new Sevis 1-20 and your husband's transcripts. Good Luck !!

Atmasita, It was not difficult for me to get a visa in Mexico to reenter to USA, but I was there for some other assignments in MxCty. However, once you land back to the port of entry an immigration officer may ask you why you went Mexico rather Nepal to get a visa authorization. You need a satisfactory answer. However, if you have all the documents and evidence of adequate money to support yourself, i don't see any problem. Canada ko tha chhaina hai....but be prepared for the worst by making a travel arrangement to Nepal if US embassy in Mexico doesn't grant you a visa there....visa rules are getting tightened after 9/11...Best of Luck

Aatmasita, I reread your post. You will be in big trouble if you are already in Nepal, and attempt to get reentry visa in Mexico or Canada. You will be under tight scruitinity. However, if you are an expert in those countries and hold a office there, you shouldnt be having any problem....Ask Ramesh Shrestha dai ---the Immigration Lawyer. The link is in the The Nepal Digest. I initially thought you want to get a reentry visa without going to Nepal...sorry for confusion.

These days Mexicon Visa is also tight. Be prepared for 5 wks window period before you are given a visa to visit Mexico. That's the case of my friend. Talk to US consulate before you leave USA for Mexico. My friend said that US consulate responds to some extent about if you will be in trouble or not for a re-entry visa. If you are denied a re-entry visa, you have to go to Nepal for re-apply (most likely). Going straight to Nepal and apply for visa there would be the best bet if your sole purpose of getting re-entry visa stamped is going to Nepal.
