Oh SG,

There may not be enough Nepali psychology professionals to have its own journal. I may be wrong here. However, if you want to publish something related to the field or related to Nepal, the journal from SINHAS may be a closer clan. However, I know few other Nepali journals, but not sure how regular they are.

Thanks Bhunte dai...

you are right about there being very few psych professionals in nepal to have a journal publication in the field. i was looking to publish my research work that was done in nepal to inform nepali (both psych and non psych people) about psych work being done in nepal. i will look into SINHAS as you suggested.

we should have social science journals (sociology, anthropology etc) published in nepal though, don't we? unfortunately, i don't know much about academia in nepal but am gradually finding out.

in peace.

SG,
First try it in some good international journals. That will be significant for your future career. Referees give very nice comments. To my experience, you wilil feel like conquering Mt. Everest once it is out in that rank of journal.

true, i can further my career with publications in international journals. that's not a problem. but the thing is I want to reach other nepali audiences as well. they need to be informed about work being done in psych field and possibly these kinds of efforts can attract more students to pursue fields other than the "usual" like econ, math, comp sci, engg, and others that nepali students are often constrained in. i do not mean to disparage these fields, but i think we need to have nepalis in a broad range of careers and excel in every effort!

i recently had a conversation with a prominent Nepali ambassador who informed me that despite the large number of people settling in the US, we have very few people who have managed to excel and even fewer trying to venture into the "non-normative" fields in which they could possibly do well and even rise up. i am aware that the issue of funding and job options are what restrict people to choices within the norm, but it is about time that we nepalis dare to be different and adventurous. and of course, where there is a will there is a way.

in peace.

SG,
I agree with you, but was thinking different. If your research is significant to the body of knowledge, you may want to share it with the wider audiences around world. I have seen many good articles mostly related to social science discipline like sociology, anthropology, history, etc., both by home and foreign scholars in SINHAS's journal. i guess that's the best in Nepal so far i know, and hope that helps.
