Posted for the amusement of a certain Nepali gourmet who lives in New York, New York.

Also to give you an idea how much it costs to have "exotic" food in certain establishments in Kathmandu :-)

Sitara,

It's an open secret that Kathmandu's major hotels and top-end restaurants serve
beef, and have been doing that for years.

Some have "beef" on the menu; but most get away by saying it's "tenderloin" or something equally (for Nepal) esoteric.

The merchandise, so to speak, usually comes from Kolkata.

Must be 'doodh' nadine gai!! When I was reluctant eating whopper, a friend of mine told me 'this gai is doodh nadine gai, doodh nadine gai ni ke gai'. hmmm...

They used to sell beef in bluebird long time ago.
