I don't know how much these ANA board of directors value the public opinions, but I am up for protesting ANA convention 2004 in Arizona (assuming that is the correct info). Anybody to join the protest here in Sajha?

Considering Colorado to be west (midwest to be exact), let's have it in east coast. Boston, NY, CT, NJ would be ideal.
How can anyone attend the convention on that deseart heat of Phoenix? Outdoor sports (soccer) is a no-no on that temperature. Besides, wouldn't it be ideal to host the ANA in east coast and westcoast periodically?

Say what? Can we shout enough to reach the ears?
lalpari Posted on 14-Jul-03 07:51 AM

Come on guys, don't act like a bunch of cry babies. Dallas backed out (wimps) and Phoenix was graceful enough to accept the 2004 convention. ANA stands for Association of Nepalese in Americas. Last I checked Phoenix was in the Americas! So why shoud the organizers change the venue. Why shouldn't Phoenix get the chance? You say it's too hot to play out door sports in Phoenix in July... you are right... we have to give sports the highest priority, after all it was the trophy of the 2003 Denver Convention wasn't it? We Nepalis got educated on cops and robbers, thanks to soccer players and some drunks from DC area.

I personally am from the Mid-West and enjoy the "cold weather" that we get dished out every winter and some summers. However, I am willing to give Phoenix a chance even if we scratch the outdoor sports. How many will we lose if we not make sports a part of the ANA convention? 200 people? 200 people that think that they are the world and deserver to be treated like Royalty? 200 people that think that they are above the law and should be treated as such? Come on guys...

Stop crying like babies and be a stong Nepali men and women and stand up in that heat. As they say, if you can't stand the heat, stay out of Phoenix.

Cool bros!!

Boke Posted on 14-Jul-03 08:09 AM

Some of us, well, almost all of us prefer relatively milder summer of upper East Coast over scorching 110 degrees of Phoenix. But that means nothing, nada, nyet. For ANA to be held in any city, that place's Nepali organization has to step forward and accept the responsibility of hosting the event. I have not heard of of any association from MA, CT, NY, NJ making such move, which is their right not to. So, for now, folks from Phoenix have been bold and gracious enough to take upon the task, I say more power to them. People who would rather bitch about it, crying whaa whaa whaa about Phoenix, do not have the organization wherewithall to offer an alternative, should just SHUT UP and DEAL WITH IT. No one will be twisting your arms to come to ANA convention next year, in fact, it might be preferable you don't.
MadMax Posted on 14-Jul-03 08:13 AM

I couldn't disagree with Boke. Bitch Bitch Bitch thats all the himalayan monkeyass ragheads do.

As long as the convention don't suck... its all good... but the heat is gonna be a pain... lalpari... do u play soccer?? who else?? mad max do u?? ... well u'd know if u'd be playin... i feel sorry for all the players.... theres notthin to be sissy about..... no one can play in the desert heat... unless they have special indoor events..... whether it be dallas or arizona... its just same.... but we can't stop it now.... venue is decided ..... we can only wish organizers the luck that they need.....
PS.. hey lalpari... bro can u stop sayin that drunk from dc..... when did that happen anyway?? i saw everyone drunk out there including u and me.... u just can't point out man..... its not cool at all... beside.. who ever started the rumble there... well u should understand, thats nepalese people... i mean think about it.. where in the world can u find nepalese people not involved in the rumble esp. when they are drunk?? Notthin to get upset or surprised about.... its all same ol' crap... "one of the most common definition"....
take it ez..

Okay
Why is every petition taken as a CRY? For god sake! Don't you have people have a better word for it? Or that is the best you could come up with.

I didn't say folks at AZ didn't deserve it or they are incapable of organizing one. I just made a point that it would be too hot to organize any outdoor activities during this time of year. And unless you are those budhas, you would want to spend sometime outdoor too, in the host city.

I would commend the AZ organizing committee to come forward. I was just hoping the responsible party in the east coast also raise up their hands. Let's have a fair chance of having it here too, again.

Don't come fighting against few lines. It sounded more like you guys (Boke and Lalpari) are more crybabies. Couldn't you come up with better and constructive criticism to my points?

For those who still oppose, speak up. These west coast-ites just want to save their air-fares.
lalpari Posted on 14-Jul-03 10:20 AM

SR... no I don't play soccer but I was out there cheering the teams on during the Denver convention. I did not care who won. I was there during the MN-Balti/Boul game. I saw what transpired. It was sad... but people need to get over it. You are right though, I did not mean to single out DC ketas... I take that back and agree with you that drunken ketas from all over cause troubles. I had few drinks but not enough that I would jump on the stage and start playing MADAL during the MAHA presentation. I think that was rude ... but hey those thinks happened. We just have to learn to drink responsibly and be responsible.

AVI. I appreciate you starting a petition. I don't mean to knock the petition however I am deploring the fact the we have this tendency to "khutta tanne" when ourNepali brothers and sisters try to do some good. Pahile kehi gardainau ani aru le garchu bhane bhane ... aai tyo bhand ramro ta ma pa garchoo bhanchan. We have to get over that attitudes and learn to support the whole community. Ek barsha Phoneix ma support garau ani next barsha ko lagi East ko proposal herau ani decide garaun ... tyo po ho tarika. BTW I don't know if I fit into your defination of BUDA, I don't think I do. I was there cheering the teams with my father in 95 degrees Denver heat.l

Oh well...

Lalpari
I appreciate your more 'constructive' response. I can understand your points which is fully logical. That definately brings the postive attitude among us.

Since the decision is already made, I guess we are a little late in protesting..it might appear like putting a road block. Our only dissatisfaction was that we won't be able to play or watch outdoor games and going around Phoenix in boiling sun would be a torture.
But nontheless, we can definately enjoy it if no East Coast organizing body speaks up. I will probably skip next year in that case, but would wish best of luck to the event. I still have my fingers crossed though.
help_desk4 Posted on 14-Jul-03 11:14 AM

I agree with Avi and i am going to skip ANA convention in AZ next year
Help_desk_3 Posted on 14-Jul-03 11:22 AM

I played soccer at the ANA in Virginia last year and we had a double header in the first day. Boy, lemme tell you.. the HEAT WAS CRAZY!!! And its nothing compared to AZ. I dunno how they will manage to play soccer there.. people will be collapsing left and right.
Sad part is.. ANA don't even provide fluid for the game..

well the 2004 ANA convention should be held again at DC, that would be phat..
babaji Posted on 18-Jul-03 06:50 AM

Yeah let's hold it in DC again.

DrD Posted on 18-Jul-03 12:00 PM

I believe this convention started with only one soul reason, and that is, to meet Nepali daju, bhai, didi, bahini who are here in America as well as non-Nepali friends who are somehow become part of Nepal and her people. This special assembly of Nepali friends should be about sharing each others dukha-sukha, hopes and dreams, success and failures. This meeting is a great opportunity to show our culture, our heritage, our tradition, talent and most importantly our UNITY.

Nepali people live all across America. Let us show some appreciation to our friends in Arizona, who has warm-heartedly welcomed all of us to their home. I know its very hot in Arizona during summer, and I am sure there are plenty of Nepali people in Arizona who work very hard in that heat. And we all know there are thousands of Nepali people all over America who work very hard day and night to support their families here and in Nepal. So, please let us not make tiny excuses, instead lets look forward to make this a great event!

Anything is manageable!
It will be a torture to play soccer or any vigorous sport in Arizona heat. So, why not schedule the games early morning and later in the evening when its not very hot or find an indoor arena and plan other events accordingly. How about introducing swimming tournament? I am sure thats not very hard to manage and it sounds fun, especially in the hot summer. We could have Mens & Womens 100m, 200m, 500m dash and Relays. Keep that thought, Arizonions! Guys have your Speedos ready!

How about a blind date party for singles? Or if you dont mind your partner hanging out with others&.married couples should be welcomed too. Its all about getting together and learning to accept our differences and just have a good time and make new friends&no harm&in fact its enlightening&I think.

Momo Eating competition sounds fun!

Hey, if you have any interesting ideas for the convention&feel free to express but be realistic&

Lets not even think about the following:

Sensual massage by gorgeous Nepali Men & Women : $35/hour

Beer/Alcohol Drinking Competition:

Soliciting Adult Movies in the Lobby: $10 for 4 hour video/ DVD $15

Nepali Girls Gone Wild Party!

Lets Fight after Drinking

Nude Pool Party (18+ No Diving)

&.List goes on&

next ANA convention should be either in phoenix, flagstaff or tucson, AZ. considering that there will be lot of outdoor activities, i woud suggest the convention be held in flagstaff. its much cooler there. as long as its in AZ i do not really care. also, nepathya should be inivited next year. and they can tour the whole US like 1974 AD did last year.

so everyone out there, look forward to next year's convention in AZ. and if ur intrested, i will even give u a little tour of the home of the WILDCATS. The university of arizona in tucson. free of charge :)
