Nepal Thrash Maldives KOL Report KATHMANDU, July 14 Nepal began its campaign in the U-19 Asian Cup Cricket with a huge win over rank outsiders Maldives. Nepals 344 runs victory is the biggest it has recorded in any international match. One of the favourites Nepal, went to bat first after winning the toss and scored 391 off their allotted 50 overs with the loss of just four wickets. The opening pair of Y Subedi and Kanishka Caulagain gave Nepal a dream start, quickly reaching 138 before losing the first wicket. Y Subedi was the first to fall but not before his explosive knock of 63 runs off just 66 balls. However, Kanishka Caulagain was the pick of the Nepalese batting attack. He scored 125 off just 109 balls before being caught off A Hassans balling. His total comprised of 15 fours and a sixer. Nepals innings was further steadied by S Veswakar, Shakti Gauchan, P Khadka and M Shrestha. All of the Nepalese batsmen reached double figure. In reply, Maldives struggled right from the start of their innings. Nepalese bowling attack was led by L. Lama who took 3 wickets. Shaki Gauchan and I Siddhiqui and M Shrestha all took two wickets each as Maldives were bowled out cheaply for 41 runs in the 31st over. |

One of my friend often used to say that if Nepal can enter in any 'world cup,' it would be Cricket. After looking at success stories of couple of years, it seems so. Boys, Way to go! |
