I think there is one called " Standard Charter Bank". It would not be a bad idea to give them a ring.

I think Western Union would be a good way to do it. Nabil Bank in Nepal has Western Union branches. But there is a limit to western union transfers. Good Luck

thanks everyone fro your response.

I heard 'wire transfer' is also a possiblity. I am absolutely clueless on this. Can any one explain me how an international wire transfer works and if there's any fee associated with it? Also, How reliable is it ?

acharya ji,
I think wire transfer is a lil expensive. i know of a guy in new york who does that hundi (i really don't know wat its called) stuff. u have to pay a small percentage to him(which i think is much less expensive than a wire transfer). if u want i can give u his contact no.
my email is : ziggy_lama@hotmail.com.
peace.

achary jyu,
i think what u do is that u give the money to an agent in kathmandu and the guy in NYC will gives u a check in day or so. about the reliability, i'm not too sure. i had it done once n i thought it was pretty reliable. actually they are the ppl who send the money frm the u.s of a to nepal. so i guess they are relaible. if u you want i will give u his no. and you can talk to him personally.
peace.
