Its suppose to be serious "Birodh sabha" but they are all smiling...
They were suppose to be listening but they are all talking and looking away...
Is that the joker telling a joke at the protest meeting..?

Because it is a photo-op. Everybody is getting distracted for their 15 minute fame. OK, on serious note... do you think these people seriously went there to support the cause or they went there just coz they saw the bhid bhad... me wonders!!!!!

I have no clue to your questions and can't claim anything on their behalf for their intensions of going there and be one of the personality of the bhid.

Multitasking!
If you zoom-in on the left hand side of the picture, right below that 'Tarkeshwor maa. bi." ko tool, I am sure you will see a guy eating momo, talkin' with his friends, checkin' out hot taruni's, listening to the budget bhaasan and concentrating on the live bhaasan at the same time.
We are the best in multi-tasking, and ahem! procrastinating.
