Afterall, Maoists bought time and they are granted the time at the expense of additional lives of innocent nepalis. This ceasefire should not have come. It came when when Maoists are suffering the most. Now, they got re-organized, and they probably have more arms. I wonder whether SBT, will ask for Indian Army for helps, the way Indian Army invaded Sri Lanka by force in 198?. If indian army invades Nepal, then, Nepal is no more Nepal, but, New Bhutan. The sole responsibility for turning nepal to Bhutan will go to Maoists. unfortunately, Maoists will blame it to King G and other political parties, because they are master in blaming others.

Before going too further into motives of Indians or the US political interests, you gotta make a deeper analysis of the elements inside the Maoist organizaion that drive the motives of the Maoist movement.

GP I agree.. I remember Nepal a decade ago. How peaceful it was and how loving it was. But over the period of time everything has changed.. From the actions taken by the maoists recently, it seems that they are getting underground again. But the goverment also has a fault. Both sides are equally guilty. I think it is the time now, a total action from the people should be taken. A revolution is what i think is needed. Doesn't mean it has to be a violent one, it could be similar to the one taken by Mahatma Gandhi, peaceful and very effective.

GP Ji, I silently read your postings. I could not agree with this posting of yous: "I wonder whether SBT, will ask for Indian Army for helps, the way Indian Army invaded Sri Lanka by force in 198?. If indian army invades Nepal, then, Nepal is no more Nepal, but, New Bhutan." Does India really have to take Nepal or make it another Bhutan? Why would they want to take Nepal? When Ballav bhai Patel wanted to take Nepal, Nehru wisely said, "Woh to apna hi hai". It too sad though, that the Moists kind of outplayed the Government.

ceasefire has, de facto, never existed. however, for argument's sake, even if it did, even casual observers would've noticed it ended a few weeks ago. i was just waiting to see how long it'd take for folks to see that fact.

Note that now both the Maoists and the government are denying that the attack took place. Either it took place and both sides regret it now... or it was not the Maoists at all....

maybe hmg decided to give the maoists a mulligan. after all, everybody knows it's bad form to cease the ceasefire before the ceasefire ceases. wait for the ref's whistle...

...well look at what HMG did to the secretary at the Maoist contact office in Kathmandu. I'm not surprised that the Maoists are angry!

But you might want to see the good side about it too. Although the fight, or the looting might have taken place (as now it is difficul to say whether or not the news was true), it's a good sign that both sides claim it to be false, and give priority to the peace talks. If it never happened and was a hoax, nevermind...

Sad news: (a part of email sent to me by a friend of mine). "I want ot go out atleast couple of years because of unrest in the country. Peoples are suspicious about the continuation of ceasefire. Most of the newspapers are saying that they have collected plenty of weapons."
