A perfect example of Nepali media's negligence. I can,t get any idea what was wrong with this guy flying with Indian currency. Is there a limit to how much you can carry out, other wise 125,000 is somewhere circa 4K US$. What is the limit any idea?. Was the money illegal or undeclared, not mentioned in the news. Of course there must be something wrong otherwise how can they dare arrest him, but what was wrong should also accompany the news. Just sharing my feelings so anyone else in the same profession can coment on it Indian citizen arrested Police arrested an Indian citizen Bholanath Kukrez from Tribhuvan International Airport Friday while trying to fly with IRs.125,000. "We have begun investigation on him," police said

As far as I remember from the last customs form I filled out... flying into Nepal one is supposed to declare foreign currency worth more than US$ 2000. If one obtains foreign currency from a bank in Nepal, one also has paper documentation of that. I have previously heard of people getting in trouble trying to leave Nepal with large amounts of undeclared foreign currency.

maximum you can buy from Bank is between $2000 to $2500 depending on where you are going; once you produce your departure ticket. At least it was like that some time ago[gosh it been 3 years]. This is the minimum legal amount that you can carry out of nepal.[ without any paper work hassale] But if you have authorization from Rastra Bank; Ministry of Industy and Labor and Ministry of finance then you can carry as much as you are authorized in those letter.
