Just heard from a couple of Himtel customers that rates have increased on Kroger/MCI cards. The rate is now a dollar something per minute. Apparently the rate went up yesterday night. |

I wanna pose some questions to Hemendra Dai since he's got vast knowledge in this field. It is always the case that somebody finds out a cheaper cards to call Nepal, then the entire Nepali mass starts going with that flow. As a result, in a couple of months, the company unbelievably skyrockets their price for calling to Nepal, as if we're ignored in their target market. What's the reason behind it? This is a serious ongoing issue, for those who have to call Nepal frequently. Do these companies really want us not to use their cards? What is our flaw? Is this because of Nepali government whom these companies have to pay? Can you enlighten me, please! |

Hellbound, While some companies deliberately engage in enticing customers with initial low rates, I think the case with Target and Kroger was about mistakenly entering a low rate for Nepal in the rate tables of their prepaid systems. Rates are high because companies here have to pay NTC a termination fee, which is still pretty high. You will occasionaly see low rates but only on cards which have to be used up in one call due to connection and other fees. I don't see rates going down on "clean cards" -- cards with one minute billing increment and no fee -- until NTC lowers its termination fee, which is unlikely any time soon. Thanks. I am not expert in this issue but I think these calling cards are not designed to call overseas. I believe they are just for long distance within US. There must be some glitches that they do not know that these cards work really good to call abroad interms of its rate. And, whenever these is flaw, they catch it like they caught Target card while back and hence increased the rate. Last sunday, their system was not working for good 6/7 hours and you could call 2 minutes for free entering any combination of 10 digits followed by #sign. I found out after I tried to call Nepal with my Kroger card. I think the loopwhole was caught right there after going voluminous call to Nepal within ceratin span of time. |

Yeah recently I read in New York times that other phone companies as AT&T, Verizon had filed a case against MCI for fraud. THey said that MCI somehow managed to show the international and long distance calls as domestic calls so they were charged less, and that way cheated on millions of bucks. It was good for us I guess but the rival companies could not take it.. I think they are still reseraching the case and have not come out with any answer yet. And that might be the reason that the prices went up.. to show that they are not cheating on international calls.. |

i have been through similar situation where all i did was dial a certain number and then the home number and I could talk foreve which lasted for a month. I also shared that number to many of of my coworkers - nepalese and those who come from very many different countries. Everyone was happy that they could reconnect to their families because of that number, and the countries included, Egypt, nepal, india, China, Pakistan, south Africa, ghana, nigeria, England, thailand, laos, Vietnam. These were the nations merrily represented by the circle. Also those friends of mine passed around the same number to their friends gracefully, later i became aware. So for a month i am sure all the tele -lines were abuzz after 9pm thorugh out this country and those countries. hehe..i am glad i could do something creative in bringing those invincible telecom giants down despite non of their actions - if they were actions related to me - offended me in any which way.But i still pride in my action, for AT&T then had cut off line to my apartment because of a delinquent payment, which was non of my fault but the bank's since the bank did not notify me that my account was TOO EMPTY.. i think i should be paraded on a Mercedes convertible , 5th ave, nY. hehe...LOL |

Yes Hemendra dai, The rate went high as of July 29th/2003. It also went high on cards sold as Albertson(in california/oregon area). Emails have been sent to all those who purchased at Nepalisite.com within last 7 days for their refund ...(i.e. since July 22nd)--That was in terms and conditions. If you haven't got the email yet then please contact at admin@nepalisite.com Thank you. |

Calkath ji, Yes, the HMG/Nepal has said it will VoIP in Nepal. However, NTA (the regulating body) has yet to come up with licensing guidelines. Things move pretty slow in Nepal. Could take another six months, or more. |

All the services are worthless. Himtel, Nepalsite! Bahhhh, none of them work. Does anyone know a good card that will actually work!!!??? I have tried Target, Krooger, Sam's club ... if it works, it's too expensive; if it's cheaper, it doesn't work!! There is a capitlistic conspiracy going on here!! Hemandra Ji, why did you stop your VOIP services, they were cheap and good!!! |

I use the best, cheapest and guarranteed card from www.Dhukuti.com. They continuously bring the best in the market card. Right now there's a card called mi CASA which costs 14 cents per min. Yes there's definitely a connection fee on this cheap card but the price is $5 only so I use at once. There's another card called Everest card with no connection fee, no maintenance fee according to Hemendra Bohora clean card. The best thing I like in this card is Dhukuti guarantees the card. Wish you all good luck. |
