Two weeks ago, hardly anyone in this entire swimming planet had heard of the name Michael Phelps. But the Baltimore born swimmer was the limelight of this months world swimming championship in Barcelona. He produced a spellbinding swim to grab 5 gold medals, snatching all of them in a world record time. Yes, he produced 5 world records and even the Aussie god of pool, Ian Thorpe, aka "Thorpedo" could only watch and see as this 18 year old, kept on smashing world records after world records.
The already nicknamed, "superman", is the name to beat now. He eagerly awaits the Athens olympics in 2004 where he hopes to become the first man in the world to grab 8 gold medals. We have to wait and see whether his dreams comes true. But this is not the man who relies on his dreams. His tremendous hard work and dedication is admirable. Hey! two weeks ago, he was a no name figure and now he is one of the most prolific swimmer of all time.
