The processing time ranges from a low of 30 days (in San Antonio - hard to believe) to over 1000+ days (San Diego) - depends upon where you file your application. Go here for updated information: http://www.aila.org/contentViewer.aspx?bc=10,2921,2927 |

Aakash It took my relative 11 months to be sworn in from the moment he applied. He made sure all the requirements were met so there was no going back and forth. Hope this helps. |

Totally depends on which office you apply to. What is their workload, back log. And if they are upgrading their system. Everybody's guess here is almost correct. As I know from folks around us, it takes anywhere from 6 months to 1 year. What is the hurry? You will be able to VOTE OUT George Bush in next election if you apply now, easy (don't forget to register immediately) ...... You should search in google and hookup with some groups who keep track of these things in daily basis. They know exactly when their GC is coming, or finger prints is coming. |

Aakash: I took me 11 months to obtain US citizenship. It also depends upon where you file . INS is becoming very efficient these days so Ii don't think you need to wait more than a year . There are four major steps in applying for a citizenship. 1. Applicantion itself- make sure you meet the eligibility requirements 2. Finger Print -same day service now. They check your finger print with FBI dataabse in the INS facility itself 3. Interview 4. Swearing in Ceremony Congratulations! and hope it helps............. yogi |
