Dear All,

I would like to bring to your attention the exciting exhibition of Buddhist art called CIRCLE OF BLISS that will be opening in LA on October and will come to Columbus in February Attached is the press release from the Museum. The exhibition was co-curated by John Huntington from OSU and myself, and focuses on Buddhist art from India, Nepal, and Tibet. The very exciting part of this is that for the first time in 45 years HMG has allowed 13 objects to be loaned to an international exhibition. Included among the Nepali art objects is the famous Mayadevi image of the Birth of Siddhartha, which will be the first work of art in the exhibition. Nepal is prominently highlighted in the show, and on the 1st of October in the private opening, the museum is planning a special "Hollywood" crowd private viewing for those interested in Buddhism and the Himalayas. Hopefully, interest in Nepal and its culture will be re-ignited for our flagging tourist economy. Anyway, please do spread the word around for those in the Mid-west as well as in the West Coast.

Los Angeles County Museum of Art is also planning a Nepal Week in the last week of Oct. and Nov. and are actively looking for co-sponsor for the program. We have had the good fortune of having 6 Buddhist priests coming to the show, and performing various rituals and dances. As you all may well know, the Tibetan cultural/religious activities are well funded (mostly by rich and committed patrons like Richard Gere). We want to make sure that the Nepal side is equally represented. Any suggestions as to potential co-sponsors would be greatly appreciated.

Also, the URL for the exhibition catalogue is:

Would love to get your feedback on this, especially regarding the co-sponsors.

Cheers,
