Has anyone sent a mobile phone to Nepal from U.S.A. They use a GSM system that uses a SIM card. I know T-mobile here in USA provides a phone like that..Can that be used in Nepal too? Anyone has any information on this? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Regards Waiting for a New Beginning Revival

There are some things you need to consider here. First, and important is whether the GSM phone is locked or not. Locked means its tied up with the service provider you're buying it from and hence, renders is useless to be used in other service provider's network. Unlocked means you can use it anywhere, where the service is provided, through any service provider. Also, Nepal's NTC mobile uses 900 GSM network. So, when you buy it, make sure the phone is compatible with this range NTC provides. Normally, there'll be dual band or tri-band phones. Tri-band should be fine but for dual band, make sure its usable in 900 GSM network as well. Best option would be to look at internet and shop for unlocked GSM phones, as normally in-store ones are Locked. Hope it helps.
