Congratulation to America and all great American people in the auspicious occasion of their national day. America's stance in anti-Nazi war, anti-autocratic regimes in several parts of world, anti-colonialism and social and scientific achievement have been bliss to the humanity. To a lot of American-Nepalis and Americans who visit this site, I want to wish a happy national day. They have every reason to be proud of their great democratic, diverse and affluent nation, and their mostly kind and honest compatriots.

America, it's also time to look at the vast inequities that now exist between whites and blacks and people of other races, and the ever widening gap between rich and poor. While America has been able to amass a huge amount of wealth all through the 19th and 20th centuries, it's perhaps now time to think about a more just distribution of the wealth. July 4 is as much about savoring American accomplishments as it's about taking stock of things that haven't quite gone the way Forefathers (all whites of course) of this nation envisioned. America will continue to be a great nation only so long as it has compassion for the poor - both within its borders and outside.
