Last semester (Spring '03), I registered for only 3 credits as I was on academic probation. I did this as I was told by a friend who had done the same earlier and had a similar case like mine...Nothing went wrong with her F-1 status!
Is there such a rule or a matter of fact, any other rules that allow students to take lesser credits thatn the INS allows?
