This is an excellent idea, jax. I just saw this hindi movie the other day. I rarely watch hindi movies except for really good ones. Of course I dont understand hindi properly so I have to read subtitles........... hahaha. Anyways, I watched Khwahish. It is a very realistic movie and explores micoroscosmic detail of a growing relationship. A very different approach in hindi movie series.... a bit controversial I would say. The actors are no name, new people and the movie is not polished either which gives it its own originality. If you have access to this movie....I highly recommend it. It was featured in cnn.com as well being a controversial movie. Enjoy.

Folks, do not miss "Forest Gump". You have to watch it. Its another touchy powerful movie like Lif Is Beautiful. Tom Hanks acts as Forest Gump.
Zero_creativity Posted on 03-Sep-03 11:29 AM

How about some Hindi moives.

Dhorakaal. Damul, Ardhasatya..and this list goes on and on.
Kiddo Posted on 03-Sep-03 01:11 PM

I saw 'Teen Dewarein', I bet must of you haven't seen it.
Well it has some faded star cast like Naseeruddin Shah, Jackie Shroff and Juhi. The movie wasn't all gripping but it sure has a good suspense, one of the best suspense I have seen in Hindi movie after Gumnam and that Urmila Matondkar Thriller (Ram Gopal Verma, one house story).
Go watch it if you are fed up of all chocolaty indian movies, it is different. Don't blame me if you start getting headaches though. If you keep watching the entire length, you will like it.

Whale Rider is my pick for this year.

The story revolves around a young girl and her grandfather, a Maori tribal leader in New Zealand. The girls' twin brother was slated to be the clan's leader, but dies at child birth along with their mother. Overwhelmed by grief, the girls father and future leader leaves the country. That leaves leaves the new born girl, Pai (the female lead), to be raised by her grandparents.

Bound by tradition and aware of his advancing age, the grandfather seeks ways to find and groom a male to be the future clan leader. The now 11 year old girl is keen to develop her skills and talents to have a crack at the leadership. Her grandfather, the chief, thinks otherwise. Whale Rider is their story.

A must see. It features an excellent storyline, stirring performances and exhilirating photography. The best film I've watched this year by far.

If you want to watch a compelling movie, then watch David Lynch's "Mulholland Drive". After watching the movie you can come up with your own iterpretation of the movie. It's like a piece of modern art. The view interprets it in his/her own way.
