Though there is much violence and uncertainty, one has to get on with life, celebrating the best and the most positive that our fellow Nepalis offer to Nepal in Nepal. oohi ashu ktm,nepal ****** BUSINESS Advisory panel for Boss Top 10 Awards formed Himalayan News Service Kathmandu, September 9 Speciality Media Pvt Ltd, the publisher of The Boss, a monthly business magazine, has formed a four-member advisory panel for organising the Boss TOP 10 Awards for Business Excellence to be held on December 11. The panel has representations from a varied field that includes academics, banking, consultancy and journalism. The panel members are Bijay K C, dean of Kathmandu University-School of Management (KUSOM), Sashin Joshi, CEO of NIC Bank, Kunda Dixit, editor of Nepali Times and Ashutosh Tiwari, director of Business Service Aadhar-GTZ. After being chosen to the advisory panel, K C said, "I am pleased to know that The Boss magazine is planning to award Top 10 Business Awards to CEOs, entrepreneurs, business students, and young businessmen. I believe that these awards will give due and unbiased recognition to the achievement of business people and motivate them to perform better in future. I wish that these awards become coveted and prestigious ones in Nepal." According to the organisers, The Boss Top 10 Awards, planned to be an annual event and the first of its kind in Nepal, is a tribute to the spirit of entrepreneurship and business in Nepal. Sashin Joshi of NIC bank says, "I believe the 'The Boss Top 10 Business Awards' is an example of an excellent initiative taken by the media to help people differentiate wheat from the chaff in the supposedly murky world of business. It will help set a standard for recognising managerial talent that re-defines traditional business practices and identify companies for superior performance and ethical business practices that are worth emulating by others. As the final panel of judgese is being picked from top professionals and eminent entrepreneurs, I believe the awards will be totally impartial and will be recognised for what they are, he added. "Good business practices are good for business and good for Nepal. The Boss awards could bring that sense of corporate responsibility towards the nation that is largely missing today," states the other panelist, Kunda Dixit. Tiwari of BSA, too, has similar encouraging words for the event, "It's time we celebrated the positive entrepreneurial energy of the Nepali private sector. And 'The Boss Top 10 Business Awards' can build on the momentum of that energy." The award categories are ten business awards to companies in manufacturing and marketing, financial institutions, hospitality and small and medium enterprises in manufacturing, based on financial performance; the top five bosses based on their visions for their companies and strategies employed to achieve their visions; entrepreneur of the year and top five management students. Partners in the event are AC Nielsen, J B Rajbhandary and DiBins, MaxPro, The Himalayan Times and consultant Ranjit Acharya, CEO of Prisma Advertising Agency. |
